This Easy Shoo Fly Quilt Block in the RBD Block Challenge is so much fun to sew up! It’s a quick block to make – I can’t wait to make a whole quilt with this block!
Have you heard of Shoofly Pie? I hadn’t until we moved to the south! It’s made with molasses, brown sugar and cinnamon – super yummy!! I always think of shoofly pie when I make these blocks so I’ve been hungry all day! :)
These are so quick to make and totally calorie free!
I made mine up in Singing in the Rain – I did the 6″ block in blues and the 12″ block in pinks! I also did a little fussy cutting on the 6″ block – the little umbrella fits perfectly there!
The Riley Blake Designers are taking turns writing up the tutorials for these RBD Block Challenges – this week Melissa from The Polka Dot Chair has the free tutorial for you!

This is the sixth quilt block in the series – you can find my other blocks here:
We’re all doing different things with our blocks so if you’re sewing along you’ll have choices with what to do with them! I’m doing a quilt layout tha uses both the 12″ and the 6″ blocks. We have 12 classic blocks planned as of now. I’m having so much fun sewing these up!
You can see all sorts of great versions of the blocks at the hashtag #RBDBlockChallenge and share your blocks if you’re sewing along!
