Are you ready for some sweet Valentine’s Day hoop art? Me too!
I have been wanting to make up something fun for Valentine’s day and I had the idea for this cute heart and arrow hoop art this weekend! It’s so sweet and really fast to put together – just a little stitching, and little glue – and you have a super cute little hoop!
I’m kind of in love with the little pom pom arrow. I’m pretty addicted to all things pom pommy right now.
It has just a touch of embroidery too – I wrote out you + me – but you could do anything! Names would be so cute, or love sweet love, or anything!
So let’s get started! Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1 embroidery hoop – mine is 7″
- fabric for hoop
- red and white felt
- linen for smaller heart
- trim for red heart
- embroidery thread
- twigs
- yarn for pom pom
- glue
- ribbon for bow
Cut a circle of your base fabric that is a little larger than your hoop. Put your fabric in the hoop, making sure it’s nice and tight.
Cut out a heart that fills the center of your hoop. Size doesn’t matter a ton, you just want to be able to see your fabric around it. Cut your trim so it will be the length of the outer edge of the heart.
Glue the trim to what will be the back side of the heart. I used Unique Stitch but anything that dries clear should work fine.
Glue your heart in place in the center of the hoop.
Cut out a heart from linen or other light fabric. You’ll want this one to be smaller than the felt heart. Write out what you’d like your heart to say with a disappearing ink pen.
Stitch the heart to the hoop with a running stitch and three strands of embroidery thread.
Rewrite your phrase because your ink disappeared when you got all caught up watching tv and stitched to slow. Maybe. Embroider your heart with three strands of embroidery floss and a back stitch. (Back Stitch instructions here if you need them.)
Aww. So cute. Now you’ll want to trim the fabric around the hoop. Glue the fabric to the inside of the hoop on the back side with hot glue.
Cut two small twigs for your top and bottom arrow sections. Cut two small white hearts for the arrow top, and an even smaller red heart. Layer the two white hearts together and put the red one on top of it. Stitch the red heart to the white ones with a little running stitch.
Open up the top of the heart and hot glue one of the twig pieces to the top center.
For the bottom of the arrow, make a small pom pom. Glue another twig to the center of the pom pom.
Wrap embroidery floss around the twig in three places, just to add a little more color. Glue the floss down on the back side of the twig.
Now tuck the bottom end of the arrow under the pom pom trim on the left side of your heart at an angle, and glue down.
Repeat for the top of your arrow, making sure it looks like the arrow goes straight under the heart.
Finish off the hoop with a sweet little bow!
Now you have a cute little Valentine’s hoop art – for decorating your wall or even giving away!
I hope you like it! I think I need to make up more pom pom and heart arrows. Those are too cute!
