I love the phrase on this positive floral embroidery hoop art – You did not wake up to be mediocre – it’s a great reminder to work hard and reach the goals I have set for myself this year!
Do you ever look at all the beautiful photos and pretty homes and projects on social media and wonder why you bother making things? Me too. I’ve always been unsure or insecure about myself and my work and I am really working on changing that this year. It’s so easy to get caught up in comparing ourselves with the perfectly staged things that others share.
I’m determined to not worry about that anymore though and just focus on doing the best creating that I can do! This cute hoop is a fun way to remind myself not be mediocre and to work hard!
It might look like a lot of stitching but it really doesn’t take too long. It’s something anyone can make too – from beginners to expert stitchers! I think one of my favorite parts are these big woven wheel roses. That have such a pretty 3D look to them!

Begin by printing out your free PDF pattern of the embroidery design. Tape the pattern together and line up the lower section. Fill in the circle and leaves around the center flower with a pen or pencil. Trace the design onto your background fabric and place your design in your hoop.
Begin stitching! The lettering with stitched with gray floss and was made up of back stitches. Outline each letter and fill in the open section of each letter with staggered back stitches. Make sure you’re not pulling your thread too tight or your letters will pucker the fabric.
Stitch the leaves. The small leaf sprays have back stitch stems and lazy daisy leaves. The larger leaves around the round flowers are satin stitched.
Stitch the flowers next. The large circles are woven wheel flowers and the small flowers are made up of lazy daisy stitches. You can find a tutorial for the woven wheel flowers here.
Make your woven wheel flowers nice and fluffy and layered so they have a 3D look to them. You can fluff them carefully with your needle as you as well. You can find tutorials for all the stitches here.
Stitch small french knots around each floral section. That finishes off your stitching! Make sure your fabric is tight in your hoop then trim around the outer edge about 1/2″. Hot glue the fabric edge to the inside back of the hoop.
Have fun stitching!
