I love making up fun Halloween hoops and this is such a quick and cute one! It’s pretty true too around here – because we’re all a little Batty right?!
I’m joining in this week with Coral and Co Halloween Sewing and Craft Series – I’ll have links to all the other bloggers at the end of the post. You can check out all sorts of other fun Halloween projects!
Here’s what you’ll need to make your own!
We’re all a Little Batty Halloween Embroidery Hoop
Materials: (contains affiliate links)
- 8″ embroidery hoop
- 10″ square Riley Blake White Solid
- 10″ x 5″ piece of Let the be Little Black Scallop from Riley Blake and Simple Simon and Co
- 1/3 yard orange ribbon
- Orange Pom Pom Trim
- Black Embroidery Floss
- Gray Polkadot Wool Felt
- Small pieces of HeatnBond Fusible Webbing
- Marking Pen
- We’re all Batty Embroidery Pattern
Begin by transferring the pattern for the lettering to the white background fabric. Place the fabric in the hoop and embroidery the letters with a back stitch.
Cut a piece of wool felt larger than the bat pattern and iron a piece of HeatnBond to the wrong side of the felt. Cut out the bat shape and iron it to the background fabric using the pattern as a placement guide. Embroider the face on the bat with French Knots for eyes and back stitch for the mouth.
Cut a piece 10″ x 1/2″ piece of HeatnBond and iron it to the top edge of the scalloped fabric. Repeat with the orange ribbon. Remove the embroidered fabric from the hoop and lay the scalloped fabric and ribbon over the lower section, lining the top of the orange ribbon with the line on the pattern. Iron the fabric and ribbon into place. Put the fabric back in the hoop, pulling everything tight without distorting the fabrics or ribbon.
Form a small bow and glue in place on the left side of the ribbon.
Finish the back of the hoop and glue orange pom pom trim around the edge.
Now you have a cute hoop all ready for Halloween! Wouldn’t this be fun as part of a gallery wall or hanging in an entry way?
