Spring is just around the corner! And with Spring comes . . . spring candy. One of my favorite things ever.
Back in the dark ages of Flamingo Toes I made up a printable celebrating the awesomeness that is Peeps. I still think those hip peeps are so cute, and I wanted to give them a little update! So I have a new Spring “Peeps” Embroidery Hoop Art for you today.
I added some cool peeps to mine, but if you’d rather not have them wearing sunglasses and sass – then you could definitely go for just sweet and make regular peeps too!
Are you ready for some fast and fun embroidery? Let’s get started on a tutorial!
You’ll need:
- 1 eight inch embroidery hoop
- fabric for background (adorable vintage sheet optional)
- fleece or felt for peeps
- embroidery floss
- scraps of fabric for sunglasses and word bubble
- glue and felt for finishing back of hoop
- disappearing marking pen
- Hanging with My Peeps Pattern
Start by cutting fabric for your hoop. Trace the lettering on your fabric and add to your hoop.
Start embroidering your lettering with a back stitch. You can find instructions here if you need them.
Continue until all your lettering is embroidered.
Using your pattern, cut out three little peeps from fleece of felt. Place them on your hoop.
Sew the peeps to the hoop with a running stitch using matching thread.
Add the details to your little peeps. You can use French knots for the eyes and nose. Cut out the sunglasses using your pattern and sew them on with a running stitch along the top of the glasses. Add a little gold necklace to your cool peep.
Embroider your word bubble and cut it out of your scrap fabric. You can either stitch the word bubble to your hoop, or use fusible webbing and iron it to the hoop.
Trim your fabric a little around the hoop, leaving enough to glue to the inside back of the hoop. Glue the fabric down, then if you want, finish the back of the hoop with a circle of felt.
And you’re all done! You now have a fun and sweet embroidery hoop art for Spring!
