Easter is just around the corner and I have some fun little softies for your baskets – or just to make for your Home Décor for Spring! These little Roly Poly Fabric Easter Bunnies are so fun to sew up and they would be sweet gifts too!
I got a little carried away sewing these up. But their faces are so cute and they look so sweet in these vintage fabrics! Plus they have a little bow. Everything is cuter with a little fabric bow right?
Eek. Look at those little faces!
The bunnies would be sweet to sew as gifts just as they are – or you could make them up as part of a game! Think maybe bunny tic tac toe or something similar. Super cute and fun at the same time.
So here’s what you’ll need to make your own! (Materials are for one bunny)
- Fabric for bunny – about 1 fat quarter
- felt scraps
- rice
- polyfill
- beads for eyes
- embroidery floss for mouth
Start by cutting out your pieces. You’ll need an 8″ circle for the bunny body, plus 4 ear pieces, 2 felt ear stabilizers and 1 felt face stabilizer. The ear piece should be pointed like in the photo and be about 4″ tall and about 2″ at the widest part of the ear. The piece of felt that stabilizes the ear should be about 1 1/2″ tall. The piece of felt that stabilizes the face should be an oval about 2″ x 1 1/2″.
Thread a needle and sew a gathering stitch all the way around the edge of the circle. Pull up the thread just a bit.
Add about 3 tablespoons of rice into the opening of the circle.
Add polyfill to the circle, stuffing it as much as you’d like. You want it full but not completely stuffed. Pull up the threads to keep the circle almost closed. Tuck the felt face stabilizer piece in the body of the bunny where you would like the face to be. This will make the face lay a little smoother when you sew the opening closed.
Place your ear pieces right sides together and place the felt piece on top, lining up the bottom straight edges. Sew around the edges with a 1/4″ seam allowance, sewing down the sides of the felt piece and leaving the bottom open.
Clip the top point and turn the ears right side out. Tuck the felt piece inside the ear and press. Place the ears in the opening of the body and sew the opening closed, sewing the ears in place at the same time. Make sure the ears line up with where the face will be.
Sew two little black beads on the face for the eyes. (If you have really little ones, switch these out and just embroider the eyes on.)
Here’s a little tip – if your thread shows too much on the beads, use a fine point black sharpie and color the thread where it shows up on the bead.
Draw out the mouth with a disappearing marking pen. Embroider the mouth with a small back stitch.
Cut a small strip of contrasting fabric. Wrap a piece around the bottom of the ears to cover up the opening seam. Sew in place, then finish off with a small fabric bow.
Repeat as often as you like. Obviously making these up is a bit addicting. I could just eat these up.

Definitely love them! I will probably do some bunnies for Easter’s presents!
I am in love and I have some perfect vintage sheets for these! You have outdone yourself again, Bev. Pinning!
So cute!! Thanks!!
Most.Adorable.Ever. Love this cute little idea! If you live in a house where your storage area could occasionally see a mouse (basements in the country or woods!), you could use small plastic pellets to fill the bunnies. That way they won’t attract any “visitors” and will be as good as new for next Easter! Thanks for sharing.
Great idea! Hate those rodents in the house, so why give them anymore encouragement!!
Love these!
Thanks for sharing your tutorial!

Cute, cute, cute,!!!! The fat quarter bunnies are adorable. I’m a little trick challenged how do I save the patter for later use?
Hi Robin! If you open the PDF, there will be a save option on the page. (It depends on your browser where it’s located.) When you click save it should save it to a location on your computer so you can access it later. I hope that helps!
Just too adorable, and I can see this idea for other animals as well. Another winner! Thanks so much for sharing on craft schooling Sunday!

These are adorable. Seeing as my grand it “too old” for these, I immediately thought sachet filled with lavendar (and essential oil on the polyfil!). I think they would be perfect for an Easter version of Cornhole being renamed bunny hole!
Dzięki za niepospolite i zarazem wdzięczne do powielania inspiracje ,które z przyjemnością można samemu lub z bliskimi stworzyć- pozdrawiam życzę więcej nowych pomysłów dla siebie i dla nas -Beata

Thanks so much.
I love these. I have some old handkerchief s of my game. I think I will use them. If I remember where I put them.LOL
These are darling! I’ll be making these for my grandlittles for Easter. Thanks :)
These. Are. So. Adorable… And … They just
gave me the greatest idea… Why not sew them very well so they could be used as bean bags for a bean bag toss game at Easter??? The ears make it easy for even the littlest of the grands and greats to play.
