We’re on to Sewcialites 3 Block 9, and this week’s block is the Daylight Block by Corey Yoder! This one has such a fresh, cheerful feel—it really lives up to its name.

I love how this block combines simple patchwork with those angled corners to create a soft, framed design. The center section is perfect for showing off favorite prints, and the surrounding pieces give it that sweet, balanced look that makes everything feel pulled together. It’s one of those blocks that looks intricate but comes together in a really satisfying way.

I’m still sewing along with my Correspondence collection, and this block was so fun to put together with a mix of florals and soft prints. I especially love how the center square lets those larger floral designs shine, while the smaller coordinating prints add just the right amount of detail around the edges. The combination gives the whole block a light, airy feel—like a little patchwork window filled with sunshine.

One of my favorite things about this sew along is seeing how each designer brings their own style to the blocks, and Corey’s design is such a lovely addition to the mix. It’s classic, versatile, and works beautifully with so many different fabric styles.

If you’re sewing along, you can grab the free pattern for the Daylight Block from Fat Quarter Shop. And if you haven’t already, be sure to join the Sewcialites Facebook group—it’s such a fun and inspiring place to see everyone’s blocks come together each week!
I can’t wait to see how you all interpret this one—it’s definitely a block that looks beautiful in every color palette.
