It’s time for another Sewcialites 3 block, and this week we’re sewing the Cross Current Block by Stacy Iest Hsu! One of my favorite things about this sew along is how each designer brings a unique style to the series, and this block is such a fun example of that. The angled strips create a wonderful sense of movement that draws your eye right around the block.

I’m still sewing along with my Correspondence fabric collection, and I couldn’t resist pulling together some of my favorite soft pink, aqua, and green prints for this block. The delicate florals and envelope prints work so beautifully with the design, and I love how the lighter background helps the colors stand out. This block almost has the look of ribbons winding around the center, which gives it such a pretty, dimensional feel.

As we’re moving through the second half of the sew along, it’s becoming even more fun to see how all the different blocks play together. Every week brings a new design challenge, and it’s exciting to watch the quilt slowly grow into a sampler full of personality and variety.

If you’re sewing along too, I’d love to hear how you’re approaching your quilt! Are you sticking with a single collection, sewing from your stash, or mixing things up block by block?
Be sure to stop by Fat Quarter Shop to download this week’s free pattern, and don’t forget to share your blocks with the Sewcialites community. I can’t wait to see everyone’s versions of the Cross Current Block! ✨
