All the Trimmings Quilt Top

This is the last week in this fun quilt along from Fat Quarter Shop! I’m so excited to show off my All the Trimmings Quilt Top!

This has been such a fun sew along!! The quilt is called All the Trimmings and it is hosted by Fat Quarter Shop!! We are on the last week of the quilt along – this is the week for finishing up the tops! I decided to do mine a little differently. I added three borders!

I added a small red Christmas lights border, an aqua Ornaments border, and a white border (same as my background). I’m so excited about how it turned out! The borders made the top – so that’s a nice size for a small lap quilt! I think I’m going to have it quilted with a cute Christmas Lights design.

For my quilt, I sewed with Christmas Adventure fabric for my prints and Blossom tone on tone for my background. (affiliate links) Up close the background looks a little like snow!

All the Trimmings Quilt Top

I’m so in love with these rows – especially that little ribbon row!

Here are some quick details on my borders:

I used the finishing instructions as they were from Fat Quarter Shop. To that, I added:

• Inner Christmas Lights Border – 2 pieces 2″ x 38 1/2″ for sides, 2 pieces 2″ x 36 1/2″ for top and bottom
• Aqua Ornaments Border – 2 pieces 4″ x 41 1/2″ for sides, 2 pieces 4″ x 43 1/2″ for top and bottom
• Background Outer Border – 2 pieces 3″ x 48 1/2″ for sides, 2 pieces 3″ x 48 1/2 for top and bottom

So my finished quilt top is 48 1/2″ x 51 1/2″. After quilting, I’ll trim it down to 48″ x 51″. Yay!!
