Well I am super excited because this weekend the third movie in the Hunger Games opens! You know I will be there Friday – I am a huge fan of the series! To celebrate I’ve made up this cute Stitched Arrow Pendant Necklace – with simple embroidered arrows and a little Mockingjay charm. And as a bonus – it’s a cute necklace even if you’re not a Hunger Games fan!
My fellow book lover, Marissa from Rae Gun Ramblings, is having a fabulous Hunger Games series to kick off the premier this week! She has links to bunches projects, tutorials, and an awesome Hunger Games giveaway! You definitely want to make sure you check it all out and enter!
These wood pendants are so fun to make. I made a vintage flower necklace that was so fun, and I love this simpler version too. It was so fast to stitch up!
Here’s what you’ll need to make your own:
- Wood Cross Stitch Pendant – you can find these on Etsy – just search cross stitch pendant
- embroidery floss
- bird charm – I found this one at Michaels
- Necklace Chain
- Jump Rings
- Optional: glue
Begin by sketching out your design on the back of your pendant with a pencil. You can erase it if you need to, but this makes it very easy to follow along with. The arrows would look great on any shape of pendant too.
Start stitching at the top of one of the arrows. Tuck the loose end of your thread under your stitches as you go, rather than make a large knot. This will keep the back of the pendant tidy. (Not something I’m usually good about with my stitching.)
Keep stitching, following along the lines of your design.
Continue until all your arrows are sewn. Glue down the ends of your thread on the back side, just to be safe, if you wish. You won’t need much.
Add a jump ring to the center hole of the pendant and put your necklace on a chain. If you need to add the closure of the chain.
Add your mockingjay charm just a little above the pendant on one side with another jump ring.
That’s it! I love how fast this is – I think the whole thing took me a half hour. It would be a great gift too!
Isn’t it fun? Don’t forget to head to Rae Gun Ramblings for more Hunger Games inspiration – and to enter the giveaway!

Cute!! And I love how understated it is. Almost like YOU know you’re a big Hunger Games fan but not just everyone would catch one. I need one! :)
