This new Spill the Tea Mug Rug is a fast and fun project that is perfect for gift giving!
I love making up quilty projects for friends – it’s like a little hug in a gift. This sweet new mug rug/mini quilt is such a fun project to sew up. It’s fast and easy and you can really tailor the prints and colors for whoever you are making it for. Orrrr you can totally make one up for you – this little mini quilt is perfect for holding your tea while you’re sewing. :)
I used my new Melody fabrics for this mini quilt; they are so bright and pretty, and I love how the different florals look together. It was fun picking fabrics for it! I chose the blue and green florals for this version but I’m going to make up another with the pinks. Oooh and maybe yellow and blue? I love that idea.
I added a touch of embroidery to the mug rug in the little steam lines. I made it a subtle light blue that I love in person, but it’s a little hard to see in photos. You can make your stitching a little darker if you want it to be more bold.
You can find those in shops here if you want to use Melody fabrics for yours. I’ll be doing a video tutorial of the mug rug on my YouTube channel today – you can join me for that at 2 pm CT!
