It’s that time of month! Time to show off what I’ve been working on for the Sew Our Stash challenge!
We moved things up a day since Thanksgiving is Thursday!
Marissa from Rae Gun Ramblings and I are committed to sewing more clothes for ourselves – and we are both having so much fun with this challenge!
This month I made up two Colette patterns I’ve been dying to try. I made the Violet top and the Zinnia skirt!
I made up the top in a really cute print I found at Jo-Ann Fabrics – I love the retro feel of the top but I think it was just a little bit heavy for the pattern. Or something. I’d like to try it again with a thinner fabric like a voile.
Here’s a better look at the Violet top:
That Peter Pan collar makes me so happy.
And while I like my new top, I adore my new skirt. This Zinnia pattern is so fast to make and the results are so cute!
The pleats make such a flattering waist and I love that it has pockets too!
I will definitely be making more of these up!
So I have a fun new outfit for the month!

The top are skirt are super cute, but I must confess, my favorite thing about your outfit are those adorable shoes! Love!

The outfit is cute. How’d you get to take a picture with such lovely background. No people making bunny ears in the background etc. I’m with Darlene about the shoes. Too cute. I had a pair of ghillies I bought over 20 years ago. My body has changed a lot but I still torture my feet on occasion when I won’t be doing much walking.
Beverly says
Thanks Syl! I got lucky this time – the joker who is usually doing the bunny ears was behind the camera :)

Oh they turned out great! I’m super super in love with the skirt!
Beverly says
Thanks Marissa!! I love the skirt too – it’s maybe my favorite thing I’ve made since we started the series! :)

Both pieces are fab! I think the top is great- it’s freezing here and I want heavier fabrics:) I agree that it will be pretty in voile too. A ad for the skirt, it really is lovely, the pleats give it an edge and the length is just right to still be fashionable but not frumpy. Pockets are a must!
Beverly says
Thanks Amy!! I love the weight of the fabric too, I just feel like it’s too poofy at the waist tucked in. Maybe I’ll just take it in more on the sides! And yes. Can’t do without the pockets! :)

Cute top! How would it look open, like a jacket? I love the collar! -Marci @ Stone Cottage Adventures
Beverly says
Thanks Marci! I’m not sure how the collar would lay with it open, it tends to lay flatter when buttoned. It might be a cute look with some alterations though!
