We have another sweet installment in our Scrap Busting Extravaganza! Today we have the darling and talented Kara from Mine for the Making! She has such a fun project for us today – perfect for using up all your trims!
Hi there!
My name is Kara and I am the crafty mom behind the blog Mine for the Making! I often share crafts, decor, recipes, kid-friendly ideas, motherhood adventures, and all things DIY. I’m wife to my high school sweetheart, mom to one sassy six year old, and former elementary school teacher turn mompreneur/stay-at-home mom/homeschooler. I love family, food, handmade, travel, vintage, and Disney.
I’m so excited to be here at Flamingo Toes today… isn’t Bev just a gem of a gal? I sure do adore her! For the Scrap Busting Extravaganza, I thought I’d take the opportunity to clean out my ribbons/lace/trimmings bin to create something pretty. How fun is this Scrappy Whimsical Dreamcatcher?
For this project you will need:
- embroidery hoop
- doily
- scraps of ribbon, trimmings, lace, etc.
- hot glue gun + glue sticks
- scissors
Gather up your supplies and all of the scraps that go well together. In my case, I picked pinks and whites… great for Valentine’s Day or my daughter’s bedroom.
Remove the inner hoop of the embroidery round and cover it with the doily. Secure it around the edges of the inner hoop with hot glue and trim all the excess with your scissors.
Add the outer hoop back on and secure. Then start tying on and gluing your scraps to the bottom of the hoop. Just slip the ends through the doily openings.
Once you are happy with the scraps added, use your scissors to trim up the bottoms to the desired length. Then hang it on a wall!
Thanks so much for hanging out with me for a bit! Come on over to my corner of the Internet sometime and say hi!
