Hallelujah – Summer. Is. Almost. Here.
Some of you might even have kids out of school already. Not here – So Cal drags it out a bit, we have a couple more weeks.
But for us, the end of school also brings the beginning of our big adventure – the Great Road Trip.
We are trekking from one coast to the other, beginning June 18th. We’ll be gone for a two week period. It’s going to be crazy. :)
So in getting ready for the trip I’ve been trying to find things to keep us all busy. Aside from looking at the marvelous scenery in this great country of ours, there is a slight chance we might get a bit car crazy. Possibly. Especially the kids. I’ve been scouring the web and blogs for creative activities for the car and I’ve found a bunch of fun stuff.
And I was thinking that maybe some of you might be traveling this summer too I know, my powers of deduction are mind boggling) and I thought I’d put together a two part series on Road Trip Activities.
Part One is Kids Activities. I’ve tried to put together activities that cover most age groups for kids – and I thought I’d start off with something I came up with for the little guys you might be traveling with.
I found tons of cute things for girls to do in the car and one of my favorites was paper dolls. But there was nothing like that for boys. (Not that they would be called paper dolls. :) I decided to create an Awesome Manly Robot.
I thought this might work for two age groups. For the little ones you could cut them out ahead of time and maybe even laminate them. The older kids might want to cut them out themselves.
Here’s the download if you’d like to print them out. And this is my first paper doll Awesome Robot. So if I need to tweak anything let me know. :)

Ready for more? Check out some of these great ideas. I’ve tried to pick things that weren’t going to make a huge mess, or leave your kid’s fingers glued together somewhere outside of Amarillo with no sink in sight.
And if this isn’t already the longest post in history . . . Here are some links to more printouts and car games.

Came over from Transformation Thursday @ the Shabby Chic Cottage. Thanks for all these great ideas. We are traveling from MI to TN by car next week for a family wedding and I have been blowing my printer up with stuff to do. I would rather have way to much stuff for them to do than not enough. Thanks for all the work that you have put into this.

I’ve been trying to leave a comment on your new post but it won’t let me. Arg!
All these craft ideas are so cute! I really like the ribbon bookmark you made. I’ll have to try to make some. And I thought the little blue crocheted lobster was a scorpion at first! Ha! We had a major problem with those in Phoenix. I hate those things!
