Now that my kids are older, they both love to try new foods and recipes. They are adventurous and will try pretty much anything at least once. Of course, they have their likes and dislikes, but I love that they like to try new things.
Things didn’t always used to be that way, it was definitely tougher when they were little. I’m not sure but I think maybe the fact that I got a little more adventurous in the kitchen helped. About 9 years ago I decided I was going to really figure out this whole “cooking” thing and not just do what I’d always done. So I started trying new recipes, watched the Food Network all the time, and got brave. I am so glad that my kids both love to try new foods and recipes. They are both very adventurous, and even through they have their likes and dislikes they love to try new things.
My daughter has really developed a love for cooking, especially baking as she’s grown up. It’s been so fun to cook with her, and watch as she learns to get creative on her own. Her favorite thing to bake are muffins and quick breads, which is wonderful because we always seem to have fresh yummy things to eat, and I didn’t have to make them!
Banana Bread is a definite favorite around here – Becka usually makes a double batch in a bundt pan because we all love it. I got so excited when I saw a new Banana Bread recipe in this slideshow – with Kellogg’s Raisin Bran in it! We will definitely be trying that soon!
Check out this slideshow for some other fun ideas for mixing it up!

Oh – and how good do those Peanut Butter Kelloggs Rice Krispie Treats look? Yum. Those would be a great after school treat for me. And the kids too of course.

Oh boy, my little guys are NOT adventurous eaters. But then again they are only 2 and 5. ;) I get creative in the kitchen by putting the things they *think* they don’t like into the things they do like. Sneaky, sneaky! :)

My girls love cooking as well (and watching food network!). I’m glad your kiddos continue to love cooking and trying new things.

This recipe looks and sounds so good! I try to add whole grains and fresh organic fruits and vegetables to my family’s diet substituting healthier choices when I can without sacrificing flavor.

Thanks Mary Beth!
