I’ve decided to change up my quilt – last month I did a regular applique flower but I’ve decided to change over to the free motion applique. I just love the look and the outlining of the flower this way. So I’ll redo Block 1 before putting the quilt together. This sweet flower was so fun to make!

I do all kinds of crafting and always have several different projects going at once. In the summer – I do more woodworking as my shop is not heated and cannot do any during the cold winters. I have been making yard ornaments. My next project going is a scrappy quilt curtain for my craft room – it’s done with half square triangles – my way of learning to quilt more – have been self teaching for the last couple years. I also paint, crochet, embroider, cross stitch, wood burn, mirror etch, remake old items into new, sew, plastic canvas. Guess I am the if it looks like something I like – I will give it a try. I love this kind of applique, where the top stitching really makes the design! It’s so clever and way out of my comfort zone! I’m currently in the middle of a dozen different projects. Good grief! Two of them are embroideries that I’ve finished stitching, and now need to piece borders and quilt. One is a (converted) wool BOM. And several Christmas quilts!! :)

This is my UFO year, and, so far, so good! I’ve just returned from a Retreat and made lots of progress on a long-term BOM, Heritage Square, as well as a scrappy adventure with a block called Tiara. I’m thinking of calling the comleted quilt “Crown Jewels”. Another Retreat planned for October, so hope I can keep my string going! No shortage of new projects waiting in my stash, and my mind is always whirling! I’ve tried to limit my fabric purchases this year, too . . . backings for projects I am finishing, and an occasional dip into my LQS remnant bin.

I’m excited about the Happy Little Things BOM. In addition to working on that, I’m planning to do a wall hanging inspired by a photo I took on my summer vacation. I have a beautiful photo of the Moulton Barn and the Grand Tetons. I plan to use a combination of “accidental landscape” and applique to create it!
I am currently finishing several projects: binding a lap quilt, crocheting a red, white and blue blanket for a veteran, cross stitching a Dimensions canvas from Genesis, and then I hope to complete some doll quilts that I started in February. As soon as I finish grandson #1’s Christmas stocking (it’s all crazy quilting.) I need to start on the one for Grandson#2 because grandson #3 is due in January. Currently I am 1 1/2 stocking behind. I need to catch up!
