We’re already at Week 6 of the Riley Blake Designs Block Challenge and this week’s block is such a fun one! The block is called Square Knot and it’s designed by the talented Jennifer Long of Sew a Story. I just love how this design feels both modern and classic at the same time — it has such a great sense of movement!

The Square Knot block is a clever mix of angled piecing and bold strips that weave together in the prettiest way. It really does look like ribbon looping and tying across the block — such a perfect name! Jennifer always designs with such intention and creativity, and this one is no exception.

For my version, I stuck with my soft, vintage-inspired basics blend and used:
- Dainty Daisy Stargazer
- Dainty Daisy Songbird
- Sparkler Beach
- Blossom Peaches and Cream
I love how the deep navy of Stargazer anchors the design while the peaches and aquas soften everything up. The low-volume Sparkler Beach background keeps things light and lets those woven “ribbons” really shine. It feels sweet and airy but still has enough contrast to show off all that movement.

This block came together so nicely, and I’m loving how these basics are playing together across the quilt. Every week adds another layer of personality to the final design, and I can already tell this quilt is going to be such a favorite.

If you’re sewing along, I’d love to hear how your Square Knot block turned out! Are you going bold and high contrast? Or soft and subtle? Be sure to tag me so I can see your version — seeing your blocks is always the best part of these sew-alongs.

See you next week for Block 7! 💛✨
