We’re cruising right along in the Riley Blake Designs Block Challenge and this week’s block is such a fun one! Block 10 is the Plus One block by Amber Elliot, and I just love the mix of classic piecing with that bold, modern twist.

This block really shines with its layered design—those diagonal sections paired with the strong “plus” shape through the center make it feel both structured and playful. It’s one of those blocks that looks intricate but comes together so nicely as you sew.

For my version, I used a mix of some of my favorite RBD Basics:
- Sparkler Bleached Denim
- Blossom Peaches N Cream
- Dainty Daisy Stargazer
- Dapple Dot Canyon Rose
I love how the soft peaches and warm corals play against that deep denim—it gives the block a little extra contrast while still keeping everything feeling light and happy. And that sweet light aqua cross in the center? It really ties everything together and adds such a fresh pop!

This block is a great reminder of how much personality you can get just by shifting color placement. You could easily make this one bold and dramatic or soft and vintage, depending on your fabric choices—which makes it such a fun one to play with.

If you’re sewing along, I’d love to know—are you sticking with one fabric collection or mixing things up each week? Either way, this block is a standout!
Be sure to grab the free pattern and join in if you haven’t yet. It’s not too late to jump in, and these blocks are going to make such a beautiful quilt when they all come together.
Happy sewing! 🧵💕
