I have a fun new mini quilt to share! This cute little quilt is a smaller version of Jennifer Long’s Through the Woods Quilt!
Jennifer of Sew a Story has a darling new booklet out called Through the Woods! The booklet includes all the instructions on how to make the fabulous quilt on the cover plus how to make the sweet people blocks into pillows. It’s such a fun take on the Little Red Riding Hood story.
Jennifer is having a book tour to celebrate the release of her book and I’m so happy to join in! I don’t have any littles to make the quilt for, but I had the fun idea to make a mini quilt using the cabin and tree blocks – but I decided to turn it into a version of my own little house!
My house is white with a black roof and our door is even a sweet aqua color. We have new cherry trees that line our drive so I had to add some pink trees. I don’t have a little heart on my house haha, but I thought it made a sweet touch to the house. For the mini quilt I used a combination of my Dainty Daisy basic and some Afternoon Tea prints.
Through the Woods Mini Quilt
I tweaked the pattern just a bit – Jennifer’s cabin is pieced together but I simplified mine and used the pattern to create mine in less pieces. I also added green to the base for grass and a blue border to the top and sides to make the mini quilt a bit bigger. I’m looking forward to hanging this in my entryway!
You can find out more about the book on Jennifer’s blog, along with info about her darling To Grandmother’s House fabrics and other coordinating patterns for the collection. You can also find her book and fabrics at Fat Quarter Shop!
