Are you playing along with us for Christmas in July? Any gifts started?
Well I have another fun idea for you today for our Workshop Wednesday series! Yes. On Thursday. We like to keep you guessing around here.
You know that I love jewelry – and I love to give it as gifts!! Especially earrings – they make such great stocking stuffers or little gifts for friends, teachers, anybody!!
And what’s better than 1 earring tutorial??
Three Earring Tutorials!!!
Arent these fun? And they’re so different – hopefully one of them will work for someone on your gift list!
These really are super fast – and they take only the basic tools and skills! If you need help with where to start, check out the new How To Jewelry Tips page!
Let’s start with the Orange Pendant Earrings!
These are actually knockoffs of these cute Anthro Earrings – the Carved Filigree Earrings!
To make our version you’ll need:
2 Orange Wooden Pendants – I bought mine from this Etsy Shop – though there might be others out there.
4 jump rings
8 head pins
2 ear wires
Start by placing one of your small beads on a head pin and making a loop.
You’ll want this to be a pretty large loop so wrap your wire around the round nosed pliers towards the end of the nose.
(Again, check the Jewelry Tips page if you need instructions)
Before you close up the loop, hook it through one of the open holes on the orange pendant. Close up your loop.
Repeat for the other 7 beads on both earrings.
Since the hole at the top of these is kind of large – add a large jump ring, a small jump ring, then your ear wires.
(If you don’t have that jump ring in the middle, the earrings will hang sideways.)
And that’s one down!
Next up, we’re going to do the little Silver Fringe earrings! I think they look kind of like a jellyfish.
For these you’ll need:
2 cap beads
assorted small lengths of chain
2 eye pins
2 ear wires
Start by cutting your chains for the earrings. Make sure that you have enough to do the same amount of each chain for both earrings.
I used 5 different pieces of chain – with varying lengths from 3/4″ to 2 3/4″.
Add one earring’s set of chains to the open loop of an eye pin.
Feed the other end of the eye pin through the domed bead until the top of the chains don’t show. Make a loop with the wire – above the domed bead.
Add your ear wire to the loop, repeat for the other earring – and you’re done!
And last up – we have the Rings and Beads Earrings!
These are so fun too – and so easy to change up for different color schemes!
Supplies for this set:
2 large(ish) beads (mine are 1/2″)
2 eye pins
4 1 3/4″ lengths of chain
22 jump rings (approx)
22 small glass beads (approx)
2 ear wires
Start off with your glass beads and jump rings. Open up the jump ring and feed a small glass bead onto the wire.
While the ring is still open, add the jump ring to the second link in one of your 1 3/4″ lengths of chain.
Close up the jump ring.
Continue adding beads to jump rings, and the jump rings to the chain. Alternate which side of the chain the ring and bead are on, to keep things looking even.
I added seven jump rings to links of chain, and 4 jump rings to other rings, just to fill things out a bit.
That should leave you with about 1″ of open links on your chain.
Add the top, open link of the chain, above all your rings, to the loop of an eye pin.
Feed the eye pin through your large bead and make a loop on top. Add the loop to an ear wire.
And that wraps up the third pair!!
How seriously quick were these? You could make up all three in a couple of hours!
What do you think? Will your give one of the earrings – or all – of them a try?
