I have a fun new sewing book to share with you today!
If you follow along with any sewing blogs, you’ve probably heard of Simple Simon and Co – two amazingly talented girls who share everything from apparel to quilting to homemaking! I absolutely adore both these ladies and I am so excited about their new book that has just been released, the Simple Simon Guide to Patchwork Quilting a. I’m sharing it with you today!
Patchwork Quilting is such a fun, colorful book and I want to make everything in it! They break down traditional quilt blocks into easy-to-follow steps so anyone can make them. For each quilt block there are three projects – and they increase in complexity and difficulty so it’s a great way to learn the blocks and try new projects at the same time.
Since finishing my half square triangle pillow, I’ve been wanting to make a bigger project so I decided to tackle the HST Quilt. (Half square triangle – look at me with my fancy quilting abbreviations.) :)
I love that layout, don’t you??
I have a few blocks made, but not the entire quilt top (because, you know, life) but here are a couple of the blocks. The fabric line is from Moda, and it’s called Prairie. Aren’t the colors fun??
I think they’re going to look so cute all together, and I *think* this is going to be the first quilt I have someone else quilt. I found the sweetest local shop that does it so I’m going to try it out! Yay for no aching shoulders after days of quilting. ;)
That might be a couple weeks away though, I have this stack to sew together still. Ahem.
I have several other favorites in the book that I’ll be trying soon! This 9 Patch Basket is so colorful and cute – it would be great in my sewing room for holding yarn or current projects!
I want to try the flying geese quilt too – it’s a cute modern take and I think you can really have some fun with the fabrics on this one. I’m toying with doing something in the white space too – maybe some embroidery!
One of my other favorites is the Ohio Star Quilt! It doesn’t hurt that it’s posing on this gorgeous vintage machine either. I might do up a wintery or Christmas version of this one – I think the stars would work perfectly for that!
Such a fun book right?? I think you’ll love it.
If you can’t wait and want to pick one up right now – you can find it on Amazon!
