This has been a crazy summer for us! We have been house hunting, which you know is a process, and it’s been house hunting 3 hours away since we’re moving closer to Nashville now. It’s been a lot of running back and forth!
Well I’m super excited to say we have found a new house (I’ll show you at the end of the post) and I am so in love with it. It’s all Southern and green grass everywhere and I’m so ready to be moving in. And while it’s super exciting to finally have a house – timing is just a bit crazy right now. We’re packing and moving and school is starting and there is just a flurry of activity.
Since we’re in the process of moving, we don’t have much in the way of furniture here – and all my dishes are packed! I wanted to take some time to celebrate the move though, and the kids going back to school with a little lunch. But since all those things were packed up I knew it would have to be a disposable sort of party – so I went to Target for supplies.
I have to confess too that I’m a little sad to be leaving my farmhouse we’re renting. It’s been like living in a bed and breakfast for the last year – I have loved it. So there’s even more of a reason to have a little party. Even though we are super busy, there’s no reason things can’t be cute!
I found these cute polkadot plates and some decorations like the turquoise paper and pink honeycomb pennants that I can use at other parties in the future.
The food was simple, just sandwiches and a berry salad. Even a bowl of berries looks kind of fancy though right?
And of course we had to have dessert so I picked up a key lime pie while we were at Target and found this darling little chalkboard decoration I can reuse to dress it up!
Oh – and I couldn’t resist a giant jar of Jelly Belly jelly beans – because treats keep you going while you’re packing. :)
I’m so glad I took the time to have a little celebration! It really took hardly any time at all to set up, but it was such a great way to say goodbye to our cute rental and to celebrate all the new things coming at the end of summer!
Oh – and here’s our new house! Isn’t it so pretty?!
Have you ever thrown a simple party just to celebrate things like a move or back to school? I’d love to hear about it!
