Today we’re kicking off a new sew along, and I’m so excited to join in! The Sewing Machine Love Sew Along is hosted by Fat Quarter Shop, and this darling quilt features a large sewing machine and a little patchwork quilt. A quilt celebrating our love of sewing? Yes, please!
We’ll be sewing a section each week over the next few weeks, and I’ll be sharing my progress here as we go. I’m making mine with Minki Kim’s new collection, Cotton Nook. It’s so lovely and fresh, and I think it’s going to be such a sweet fit for this quilt!
A Sweet Start: Spool and Hearts
This week we’re sewing the Spool and Hearts! These little pieces are such a fun way to start, and they already have me excited to see the whole quilt come together.
I fussy cut one of the Cotton Nook florals for the thread spool, and I love how sweet it looks! Fussy cutting is one of my favorite ways to show off a pretty print, and this little spool was the perfect spot for a floral detail. I’m using my Dainty Daisy Vintage Pastels on Cloud as the background – it looks so lovely with the Cotton Nook fabrics.
