Good Gracious – can you believe it’s been a month already? I’m so excited to show off what I made this month!
If this is your first time visiting, every month Marissa from Rae Gun Ramblings and I show off what we’ve made to wear! We both wanted to work on sewing more apparel, so we came up with this fun challenge.
I am so glad we did! It has really kept me sewing – and I’m feeling more and more comfortable sewing things to wear.
So this month I have a new top and a new dress! I love them both!
Let’s start with my top – and save the dress for last. Cause it’s my favoritist.
I’m also going to be brave here and tell you the size I made, and the changes to the pattern I made. I had several of you email about that last month so I figured I’d just put it out there in the post in case you’re wondering.
The top is my first run with the Grainline Studio Tiny Pocket Tank. This was a blast to sew, and so so fast! I will definitely be making more of these up!
This fabric was a bit tricky to work with, but since the pattern is so easy it went pretty well. I added a little contrast polka dot, and the bias facing on the neck and armholes is the same turquoise polka dot. You can’t really see it, but I love the little contrast in inside.
Since this is so sheer, I’ll be wearing a tank under it anyway. But for my next version I think I’ll cut the front neck up a little higher. It was just a wee bit low for me.
I made this in a size 8 and it fits great. I didn’t have to make any alterations in length or width.
Now onto my new dress! I made the Colette Macaron dress. I’ve had this fabric and pattern in my stash for quite a while now, I’m so excited that I finally got this one finished!
(Sorry these are a touch grainy. I didn’t realize until it was time to write up the post and then it was a little late. That’ll teach me to procrastinate. haha)
I kept this pattern pretty much the same. I just added a little mini pompom trim to the sleeves. Because I’m addicted to putting mini pompoms on my clothes apparently.
The dress is super comfy and the pattern was pretty easy to sew too! I put in my first invisible zipper with fairly good results and my first blind hem too. Yay for that!
I made this one up in a size 8 as well. I didn’t have any trouble with sizing on this one either. I did make up a muslin first for this one, just to be sure the bodice would fit. I also didn’t put in the pockets, since they are in front by the center pleats. I don’t need any extra fabric there thank you very much.
So yay! Another successful month down!
Marissa and I were also super excited to see so many of you sewing along with us that we wanted to feature some of you here! These are all photos that were tagged with our hashtag #sewourstash on Instagram!

These are both really cute! and I always have something with sparkles or sequins on my stuff so I understand the pompoms.

I really REALLY love that tank pattern. I have not sewn clothes in so long, maybe this would be a good way to ease back in. and that fabric is so pretty!

I really love both of these pieces! That dress is just darling. Not to mention the fabric. Can I just tell you how impressed I am that you are sewing your way through your own wardrobe???

Bev, your top and your dress are both great! I could fawn over both of them for ages! But instead, I think I’ll just threaten you: you are adorable and precious and the next time I hear you being shy over a size 8 I’m gonna come over there and force feed you cake! You have a cute little figure, and your dress really shows it off. I really like the tank too- I’d have to make mine a lot longer. (Freakishly long torso) I want the pattern:) good sewing’n
