Happy Halloween!
October has been the craziest month!
If you haven’t heard me whining about it … lucky you. ;) But let’s just say that there is extreme business here. With the SoCal Social a couple of weeks ago, and a Craft Boutique I’m doing in an couple of weeks (!!!), I haven’t had near enough time for sewing for myself.
If you are new to the Sew Our Stash posts, Marissa from Rae Gun Ramblings and I have challenged ourselves to sew more apparel – and use up our stash!! We post our new clothes at the end of every month! I love that these posts keep me on task and force me to take the time to make things!
So I went the easy route this month and made up two things from the fastest pattern I know, the Casual Lady Dress and Top by Andrea from Go To Patterns.
In case you missed this post, last week I shared my Casual Lady Dress.
It was so fast to make up – just a couple of hours – and super comfy to wear! This is made up in a really soft sweater knit and it’s my new favorite.
I also made up the top version of the pattern this month. I don’t know about you, but I really have a hard time buying cute t’s in the store unless they are crazy cheap. When I found this adorable floral print over at Girl Charlee – I thought it would be so cute for making up just a fun, simple t-shirt.
Isn’t that print so sweet?
The fabric is really soft and drapey, but also realllllly thin. I thought I’d be clever and line the top with a cream knit. It all worked out well in the end, but there were some hairy moments in the middle involving reversed lining and a lost seam ripper. It was kind of a pain. I think next time I work with something this thin, I’ll skip the lining and opt for the tank top underneath. ;)
I love it though. And shocker of shockers I bought extra fabric so I can use it for something else, maybe paired with a pretty teal knit or something.
So next month I’ll have a little more time! I have some dresses that I’ve been dying to make – the Angie from Sis Boom – and the Hawthorne and Violette patterns from Colette. Now I just need time to sew for fun. ;)
I’m always on the lookout for new patterns – do you have any favorites? I’d love to check them out!
Make sure you head over to Rae Gun Ramblings and see what Marissa sewed this month!

I think I’ll get to participate next month. W00T!! Its not something I made for me but for my boys, but I did use my stash!! Yay!
Hello, my name is Michele. I have been hoarding fabric for years, but only learned to sew this year. ;)
