It’s the last Thursday of the month – so that means it’s time for the Sew Our Stash update!
Sew Our Stash is a monthly challenge that Marissa from Rae Gun Ramblings and I do every month – to show off what we’ve sewn for ourselves this month! I am so glad we do this – it really forces me to sew clothes! Which I am so loving!
So this month I worked on adding tops to my wardrobe. That area definitely needs some help – but it has two cute new additions after this.
My first top is the Adelaide from See Kate Sew. Kate just released this pattern last week and I fell in love with it.
I loved the chambray Kate used for the pattern example, so I dug out this gray chambray from my stash. It has little white thread dots – kind of like a swiss dot. So it’s all textured and yummy.
I had to make a few alterations – I shortened the shoulders and took about 3″ off the bottom before hemming. But after that it was a great fit.
That ruffled yoke just kills me. So cute. She also suggests adding buttons to the yoke – I’m still trying to decide if I’m doing that. I think it would look pretty cute with a couple vintage floral covered buttons. What do you think?
My second top this month is gray and white too – I guess I’m in a gray groove. I made up the Lane Raglan from June Patterns.
I’ve been wanting to make up the Lane for quite a while but didn’t want to do the long sleeves right now – but then I remembered this fun lace knit in my stash and decided to make the sleeves from that!
I made a few alterations to this too – I shortened the sleeves to elbow length and left off the waistband. It is soooo comfy to wear and it was a super easy pattern to sew up!
It’s hard to see but the knit is a gray with a little metallic textured dot on it. Between that and the lace, ironing was a bit of a challenge. I used a pressing cloth a lot.
I love the little pocket too. I think the lace looks so cute against the gray.
I shared a little sneak peek on Instagram to something coming next month too – it’s a fun combo of polkadots and floral!
Make sure you head over and visit Marissa and see what she’s sharing this month!
We’d love for you to play along too – if you’ve been sewing for yourself leave a link in the comments! You can share your projects on instagram with the hashtag #sewourstash.
Both are so cute though those lace sleeves are my favorite. Thanks for a great idea and for sharing your pretties. Looking forward to seeing more of what looks like a Parisian top…
I love the gray polka dots on both tops! -Marci @ Stone Cottage Adventures
Ack!!! (The good kind of “ack”.) I love these both! Where did you get those darling grey dot fabrics at? And would you mind showing a picture of the button closure? I’m curious, as I’d really like to make the Adelaide up. Such a cute pattern, and the raglan top looks great on you! Just an awesome job all around!!!
cuteness!
Love the fabric and both styles are so cute. Pat S
