It’s the last Thursday of the month- which means that it’s time for the Sew Our Stash Post!
The Sew Our Stash posts are a challenge that Marissa from Rae Gun Ramblings and I made together last year to sew more for ourselves – and to use up more of our stash at the same time! I am so so glad that we made this challenge! It has really forced me to make the time to sew for myself. It’s one of those things that gets pushed to the back burner for me, but since we’ve started I’ve made several new things to wear that I just adore!
This month I am so excited to have finally made up my first Washi Dress!
If you’re not familiar with the Washi Dress – it’s a pattern + expansion pack from Rae at Made by Rae.
Oh my gosh do I love this dress.
It is sooo comfortable. It was easy to make up too! I think it took me maybe 3 hours? And that was with some breaks.
I did made the Expansion Pack version with the pointed collar and left off the sleeves, since I knew I’d be wearing it with a cardigan most of the time.
I fully lined it as well since this lawn was so thin. I used a thin cotton for the lining to cut down on bulk, and since they were both so lightweight, it’s still a nice light dress. With pockets. All dresses should have pockets.
I think I want to make up the top version next, maybe with the sleeves and the tie at the neck. I’d like to try it with some nice double gauze too. Maybe something like this from Imagine Gnats shop?
I also made up the Day Tripper top that I posted earlier in the week – so for this month I have a new top and a new dress. Woohoo!
Make sure you head over to visit Marissa! She’s put together a roundup of Great Women’s Sewing Patterns for us. I can’t wait to make up some of these!
We’d love for you to join in and sew along with us too! You can add your links in the comments, or you can use the hashtag #sewourstash on IG or twitter.

I made this top, which I sewed from a $1 shirt I bought with the intention of refashioning! http://www.vintagezest.com/2014/02/challenge-5-simple-top.html
