Wow!! Can you believe it’s been a whole month since our last Sew Our Stash?! It’s gone by so fast.
If this is your first time here – Sew Our Stash was an idea Marissa from Rae Gun Ramblings and I came up with to start making more clothes for OURSELVES!! And to use up our stash in the process! We both sew a ton – but not usually apparel. So we wanted to challenge ourselves to do more!
So this month I feel a little like a slacker! I have only two things to show off – and they are the exact same pattern! I did a little maxi skirt sewing this month using Andrea from The Train to Crazy’s awesome tutorial. And let me just say that I see lots of maxi skirts in my future. These things go together soooo fast. It’s instant gratification. I seriously made up my second one from cutting to finish in a half hour. You can’t get much better than that.
So here’s my first one. It’s made with a super soft green and gray stripe knit.
The stripes were nice and big, but still easy to match up. I have a simple elastic waist and I used a twin needle for the hem. I’m feeling a little more confident with the twin needle. Oooh – and I serged the side seams. Boom. Look at me all awesome.
My second skirt is this yummy gray fabric. It’s a little like wearing a sweatpants skirt. Which looks cooler than it sounds.
It has just the tiniest bit of texture, which I love. It’s not too thin either, so I think I can get away without wearing a slip with this one. Not the case with the green stripe above.
So next month I plan on doing a little better! I have some dresses planned out – and some tops too. I’d like to make some things with a little more structure. Here’s hoping I get lots done!! :)
Make sure you head over and check out Marissa’s Sew Our Stash post – it’s awesome!!
I’d love to know what you made too! Any progress on sewing through your stash?

I love the striped fabric!! Where did you get that?

How interesting. this past week I sewed two long knit skirts from my stash, too. Other than $6 if fabric from IKEA for kitchen curtains I have sewed entirely from my stash this year. That is my goal this year. let’s see if I make it.

How about a black and gray stripe to pull your two colors together on the 2nd outfit? As for the stripe skirt? Shoot for a green that coordinates? or how about a gray t-shirt with a bias binding made from the skirt material to pull it all together?

Super cute, Bev! I love them both, especially those stripes! I can’t believe how fast you made them. That is awesome!!
I am so not one to give fashion advice so I’m keeping my mouth shut on that. My tastes (or lack of) are questionable to say the least. ;)
