Hello Flamingo Toes readers! I’m Susan and I blog about quick sewing projects, using up vintage goodies and repurposing thrifty finds into new treasures on a budget over at Sugar Beans. I have been an avid reader of Flamingo Toes for years and have followed many of Bev’s great tutorials for my own purposes and feel so incredibly blessed to be a part of this fun Scrap Busting Extravaganza! Today, I am sharing a fast tutorial on using your fabric bits to make a Scrappy Camera Strap.
So, let’s start. First, gather the materials needed.
I traced my camera strap {folded in half} adding a 1/2 inch for the seam allowance. When trimming my fabric strips, I just made sure the width was the same size as the width of the pattern, not caring about each individual scrap’s length. Then, I randomly began to sew the fabric strips end-to-end, trying to mix up the colors and patterns. I ended up with a long strip of yummy fabric.
Iron the seams flat; then iron your pieces of interfacing onto the fabric strips for added durability. Fold over ends, iron and stitch.
Take some of your trim and lay it along each edge, pinning every couple of inches. Sew along each side, leaving the ends open.
Turn inside out and iron.
Now it’s time to shimmy your darling Scrappy camera strap onto your camera.
A super quick + colorful scrap busting project.
I can be found on Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram. Come stop by; I love making new friends!
