This post is a partnership with Chesapeake Bay Candles. All opinions and ideas are my own. ;)
One of my favorite things about the holidays is all the smells! Pumpkins and pine needles and cookies baking and hot cocoa! Everything smells so good. But sometimes I don’t have time to bake cookies and make cocoa and all the other things – which is still ok because there are awesome holiday candles to the rescue! I can have all those lovely fall and holiday smells right away. Yay!
I made some fun little candle coasters to go with my new candles and I love that they add a little color to the candles. They are all rustic and floral and super easy to make!
Chesapeake Bay has some really fun scents for the holidays. My favorite is Pumpkin Latte – it smells like a pumpkin pie and you don’t have all the work – or calories! I’m really loving the Balsam Fir too! We have artificial Christmas trees so we don’t get that yummy tree smell at Christmas. The Balsam Fir candle takes care of that! I’m planning on burning that one in the living room by the tree and the Pumpkin Latte and Vanilla Biscotti in the kitchen.
The little mini three candle set smells really nice! It has a really nice blend of scents that are perfect for the holidays too and the set would make a great gift. You could could pair it with a set of the candle coasters.
Here’s how to make up a set of the coasters! You’ll need:
- Set of three wood slices
- Floral Paper Napkins
- Mod Podge Matte
- Mod Podge Brush
Trace the slice shape onto the napkin and cut it out. Seperate all the layers of the napkin until you have just the top, printed layer.
Brush a layer of Mod Podge on the wood slice and carefully set the napkin on the slice. Make sure it isn’t wrinkled and press out lightly from the center. The napkin tears easily so you’ll need to be careful. Once it’s mostly dry you can press down any wrinkles or any little spots that need fixing.
When the napkin is really dry, sand it lightly to roughen up the edges and give it a more rustic look. Wipe off any dust.
Brush on a coat of Mod Podge to seal everything up. If it causes any wrinkles in the napkin you can press them down lightly again. Easy peasy!
Now you can just set them out for a cute display stand for your yummy scented candles!
