I have been having so much fun decorating the front porch on our little farmhouse! It’s a new experience for me and I am loving it! Well now that Fall is over that means it’s time for new wreaths for the front doors. While I usually don’t repeat wreath ideas, I really liked the easy and pretty simplicity of my Burlap and Ruffles Fall Wreath and thought I’d make up something similar for Christmas. This Ruffled Santa Wreath was just as easy to make and adds such a fun look to the front door!
It’s a glamorous combination of red satin, fur, rhinestones and beads – all wrapped up together for a cute Santa inspired look. Or maybe a blinged up version of Santa.
You can check out the original Wreath post for instructions – I made it the same way. For the main portion of the wreath I used a white fur trim I had on hand. I would recommend purchasing a little fur off the bolt and cutting it into strips, I think that might be more economical. Just a tip in cutting fur, flip the fur face down so the “fabric” backing is facing up. Slip your scissors into the fur, just around the fabric and cut out your strips on this side. This will reduce the amount of the fur you cut and will keep the fur from looking like you gave it a haircut. :)
The garland is from a red bead garland I found at Walmart. I think it has kind of a vintagy look!
For the bow portion, I used red costume satin for the ruffles, and black wired grosgrain ribbon for the center. I wrapped rhinestone trim around the ribbon. Everything is pinned in place for easy removal! In fact, this is the same wreath base as the Fall Wreath – I just unpinned all the burlap and fabric and pinned this in place!
I think it will look so great on my green front door! I will make sure to show off the finished porch soon – probably on Instagram!
Isn’t it fun? I hope you like it!
