Those of you who hang around Flamingo Toes often (bless you) know we’re heading out on Friday for our Great Road Trip. So of course instead of packing I’m messing around online. Actually, I’ve been browsing through Flickr looking for some inspiration for a photo project we’re going to do on the trip. More to come on that later.
But in looking around I came across some really great vintage travel postcards.
(These all link back to the original Flickr address and fall under the creative commons section of Flickr.)
And the backs – can’t forget those –
Sigh. So sweet.
What about you? Do you send out postcards when you’re on vacation? My in-laws do and the kids and I love it. Such a fun way to get a small snapshot of a vacation, along with a few words from someone you know.
One of my goals this year is to be more of a “doer”. So instead of just thinking about postcards and liking it when I receive them, I’ve decided to be a postcard sender this year. And I was wondering if you wanted to be one too? I thought it would be fun to set up a postcard exchange (kind of like Adorkable Annie’s penpals). I know I LOVE receiving mail – maybe you do too. :)
If you are going on a trip this summer, or even if you’re not, and would like to receive a postcard from somewhere exotic (or not so exotic), send me an email with your address. Then I can send you mine. I’ll send out a postcard to you while I’m on my trip, and you can send one to me when you go on vacation, or just from your neck of the woods if you’re staying home this summer. (That is assuming anyone is interested in participating, haha)
My email address is bev(at)flamingotoes(dot)com. I promise I won’t stalk you or anything and you promise to do the same. :) And I think it goes without saying that the postcards need to be G rated – there are some funny cards out there but don’t send anything you wouldn’t want teenagers to see.
Oh and one last thing – I know some of you gals are outside the US – that’s awesome. We’ll just have to figure out the whole postage thing. If you have any advice on that, put it in your email.
What do you think? Crazy? Hokey? Yeah, probably both. But it will be fun. :)
in any postcard swap I’ve ever participated in that goes overseas the stamp that is required is just the US 44cent stamp – so the same as a letter, vs. the postcard postage price.
And I’ll be sending you an email because a happy mail box makes for a happy me!
Yay! Thanks for the shout out! I got your card yesterday! It made my day. Thanks so much! I LOVE post cards (hint, hint.)
Count me in. I still need to send you some of the town where I live. Hopefully I will get a little package your way for you to come home to. Have fun. I will be thinking of you while you are traveling. ((((HUGS)))
I’ll certainly participate. I’ll be e-mailing you soon and will drop you some snail mail in the mail so you’ll have some goodies when you return home.
Have a great time on your trip!
