A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to visit the Plaid headquarters in Atlanta for a few days! I am super fortunate to be a part of the inaugural group of “Plaid Creators”. Plaid has gathered together a group of bloggers to work with over the year and they brought us all to Atlanta in early April to tour the headquarters and craft with some new products hitting the market. It was such a great trip and I wanted to share some of the highlights with you!
Everyone at Plaid was so welcoming and I loved getting to see all the behind the scenes tours. We were taken through production, the lab, the photo and prop departments and the hands-on craft room where all the products you see on their site are tested and photographed. It was amazing.
We were able to try out some new products that I’ll be able to show you more about soon, but for now here are some sneak peeks!
There are several new painted finishes coming out soon, including concrete, moss, rust and barn wood. These cute birdhouses were so fun to work on and I loved being able to play with the new textures! These started out as plain raw wood birdhouses – can you believe how they turned out??
I’m super excited about the new Milk Paint line Plaid is debuting! The paint comes in sooo many pretty colors. I’m working on a project with it now and I love how easy it is to work with. We painted these cute little boxes – don’t they look cute all piled up together?
Another of the new products coming out is Ultra Dye paints. These paints are like dye but have a more gel-like feel to them and the colors are so rich and vibrant! I can’t wait to play with these more – they are so gorgeous.
One of my favorite projects we worked on was these gold leaf bowls. It’s not a new product, but I’d never gold leafed (is that a verb?) anything before. I had no idea how easy it was to do – and what an amazing look it has!
Of course we got to play with one of my favorites too – Mod Podge! We made these darling little clothespins, and each pin has a different Mod Podge finish. I actually hadn’t crafted with a few of these before so it was great to try them out.
I had a great time getting to know all the girls too – let me tell you they are all so talented and sweet!
Here are all the girls so you can check out their blogs too:

It was such a fun weekend – one of those pinch-my moments that has come about through this blogging journey. Having grown up crafting and sewing, it was surreal to be touring the Plaid headquarters and to be working with them this year. Not something I would have ever thought as I was stitching up little Bucilla kits or Mod Podging things in high school. :) But definitely something I am so grateful for. And I’m so looking forward to being able to show you more of the new things coming out this year – I think you’re going to love them!
Here’s a fun video look at the trip too!
I love the milk paint! And I’ve never gold-leafed either, but now I feel like I have to – those bowls are so cute!
