I am so excited about today’s post!! I have been keeping a secret for almost a year and now I can tell you all about these new DMC Cork and Mesh Fabrics!
DMC – the makers of embroidery floss and pearl cotton and aida and so much more – has developed three new stitchable fabrics and I have been working behind the scenes with them on projects for the last year! The new fabrics are a stitchable cork, a stitchable cork with gold flecks and a reversible gold and silver mesh. These fabrics are so amazing and you can do such fabulous projects with them!
The fabrics come in 10×10 sheets and you can embroider on them of course – but you can also sew or craft with them! So let me show you some of my projects I’ve made with them!
One of my favorite projects is actually on the box of the gold cork fabric – these little nautical coasters.
The DMC Pearl Cotton really shows up beautifully on the cork fabrics. And you can see how subtle and pretty the gold flecks are too!
You can download the free pattern and instructions here – or in the box of gold flecked cork!
I have a few other projects on the DMC Website using the cork and mesh – and all the patterns are available there as free downloads too!
This Monogram Cork Mug Cozy is super easy to stitch up for any size mug and it makes a great gift!
I love how this “You are Awesome” hoop set turned out – connecting hoops are so fun to do!
You can find lots more cork projects at DMC!
The mesh is so fun to stitch with as well! Regular screen mesh is very sharp and often causes thread to break, but the DMC Stitchable Mesh was created specifically for stitching on! So no thread breakage. Yay. The fabric is reversible – gold on one side and silver on the other so you have lots of options. It also comes in a 10×10 sheet.
My favorite project with the mesh is these Starburst Earrings. They are so simple but the mesh really shows off the stitching!
I also created a double hoop set with the silver side – this Balloons and Bicycle Hoop set!
There are lots more Mesh projects on the DMC website as well – with free patterns to download to get you started!
So exciting right?? Well I have even more good news!
I’ve gathered up some of my favorite bloggers and next week we will be bringing you two new projects every day, using the cork and mesh! I can’t wait for you to see them – they are amazing!! I’ll be linking to all the projects here so make sure you stop in everyday, or sign up for the email newsletter!
You can find the Stitchable Cork and Mesh in your local stitchery shops and some craft stores, as well as online.
Any ideas bouncing around for these? I’d love to know – what would you make with them?
Oh my gosh, I can’t believe that cork is fabric! It looks so realistic. I’m confused about the mesh, is that fabric also? Can you iron patterns on to either of these products. I love all of your cute projects. Congratulations on your partnership with them. How fun!
Hi Karen! They are super fun materials to work with! The cork is basically thin cork layered onto a mesh fabric, so it’s easy to work with and stitch on, but you can’t wash it or anything. You can iron onto it if you keep your iron a little cooler. I use a pressing cloth too, so I’m not ironing right onto the cork or metallic flecks. For the mesh, it’s basically a pliable wire mesh. You can stitch and sew with it but you can’t iron on to it. To transfer designs onto the mesh, I put the design underneath and draw straight onto the mesh with a ball point pen. It works great! Let me know if you have any other questions!
That is so awesome!! I need to grab some of this!

All of these are so cute, Bev! I don’t think I am receiving some of your newsletters. As in, I will come to the site and find new posts that weren’t emailed to me and I was wondering if you just didn’t send out an email or if there’s a problem with it. Thanks!
Thanks for letting me know Kelly – I’ll check into it! Are you using this email address for the newsletters?
What fun stuff to play with. I saw the lovely rabbit from Shwin & Shwin earlier today and thought it looks like an interesting product. Seeing all your ideas has confirmed that!
How cute!! What great gift ideas for family and friends. :) Thank you for sharing with us at the #HomeMattersParty
