So I thought I’d show you my Thanksgiving Mantel.
It’s not anything amazing or magazine worthy (lol) but I’d love to know what you think. Let’s discuss design shall we?
After the Halloween Mantel – I wanted something a little simpler – more subtle. And normally I am all about color – but I felt like using a more muted color scheme for this.
Greens, Ivory, Copper, that sort of thing.
Here’s the full view:
Let’s look at some closeups. :)
My big giant Twine “M” is back. LOVE. I found a copper pot at Joann’s and stuck some green hydrangeas in it. The spools are wrapped with yarn from my stash.
You might think that I embroidered my little Be Thankful Always Sign. Nope. Found it at the Thrift Store for $1. :)
I have a cute little green birdie and some more thread spools wrapped with coordinating yarn for him to watch over.
Kato is having fun rolling them off onto the floor. Every. Day.
Here’s one of my questions. Giant Rug Beater on the left side? or no? You can scroll up to the full mantel to see it without.
I kind of like the balance of something tall but not sure if this works or not.
My little hurricane is a dollar store vase taped to a dollar store candle holder and filled with buttons. I wrapped it with pretty green felt ribbon.
My twine pumpkin came from Target a few years ago, along with the wreath in the center. I picked them up on Clearance. Score!
I like it. I’m just not 100% sure about it. Make sense?
Does it need something more?
Keep in mind – it’s coming down in 4 days to make way for Christmas awesomeness. lol.
I’d really love to hear what you think though – Simple and Pretty? Or simple and boring? ;)
Do you decorate for Thanksgiving?

Its beautiful, Bev! I’m torn on the rug beater. I’m a very symmetry-oriented person, but I’m kinda enjoying your setup without it. And I always forget you’re an M monogram! You definitely need more monogram projects. Ya know, to give me more ideas. lol! :)

So jealous you found that fabulous sign at the thrift store!!

I love your mantle.

Just perfect! I’m a “less is more” kinda gal and I really like the grouping.
I tend to decorate more for fall with bittersweet, gourds, etc. I do however bring out my wool turkey board for the server in the dining room.
Incidently, I have the same rug beater next to my side of the bed. Wanna take a guess and it’s not what you may be thinking.

I love it! All the colors are soft but give a nice fall feel, and I love the textures you used. Jealous about the sign also! Nicely done.:)

simple & pretty. i love the pops of green & your twine wrapped letter. will be wrapping my little “s” in twine now!!!!
Laura @Ms Smartie Pants says
Ok, looking at the first picture before scrolling down I thought the left side doesn’t have as much color, thinking you need to change the candle or wrap a piece of paper around it that has some color, but then saw the rug beater, don’t know if that adds enough color and maybe your fine. I’m not a symmetrical girl and I like the height.
Karen Perdew says
Yes, rug beater. I like it.
Jaan says
Oh, yes add the rug beater. It will balance it perfectly, and still stay simple. Love it!

The sign is wonderful. Someone was probably rolling over in her grave that her family did not want it and took it to the thrift store. I have visions of that happening with all of my cross-stitch.
But she should be happy now that someone is grateful to have it and it is adorning your lovely mantel.

I love the rug beater. It looks perfect. I am thinking of taking my Thanksgiving down tomorrow. I am done watching children today and not hosting the dinner so why not start decorating for Christmas.
Are you hosting or taveling. Have a Happy Thankgiving with your family.
The Answer Is Chocolate says
I love it Bev and I like the rug beater. Wishing you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving!!
Katy Lunsford says
Hey Bev – – without is my vote!
Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Jennifer E says
I think simple and pretty for sure. And my vote is without the rug beater. Happy Thanksgiving!

Very pretty Bev!

I like the rug beater. At first I thought I was going to read that you made the ‘heart’ out of just some wire hangers. I have never actually seen a rug beater like that. I think that gives away why I like it – at first I thought it was a rustic heart to go with your design and love goes along with thankfulness.
