I’m so excited to share our July Needle Minder of the Month Box! This is the first month of our Needle Minder of the month club, and we’re kicking off the year with a sweet summer sailboat!

This month’s theme was Summer Sailboat! The needle minder features a darling red, white, and blue sailboat, and we have two coordinating patterns in the box: a cross-stitch chart and an embroidery pattern. The box came with coordinating floss to make stitching these up even easier.

I used a cross-stitch display from Paisleys and Polkadots for the design, and I plan to change it out every month. I used their 6.75″ x 6.75 Unfinished Pedestal, and it was super easy to put together.
Here’s the info on how I framed the cross stitch design!
- I cut a sticky mounting board at 6.75″ x 6.75″ for the fabric-covered board. I used Dainty Daisy in Denim to cover the board. I love the blue background and how it gives it a summery, patriotic vibe. I taped the fabric to the back of the board with mounting tape.
- I cut a sticky mounting board to 5″ x 5″ for the cross-stitch portion. I glued mini rick rack to the back side of the board. I used Lori Holt’s small vintage trim. I then glued the two pieces together.

- I used sticky magnets for the display and on the back of the stitching card. I’ll add magnets to the back of each month’s design, allowing me to use the same display and change out the design each month. It’ll be so fun!

- I added a little rick rack behind the stitched portion and a cute gingham bow with a wood button to the design. I love how it turned out!

There are two options for finishing the embroidery design! This is a year-long subscription, and at the end of the year, I will release a free quilt pattern to subscribers for the embroidery blocks. Yay! If you would rather finish each embroidery design separately, you can finish it in the hoop. I have a video tutorial on how I like to finish my hoops, which you can check out here.

I added red pom pom trim because I’m obsessed with pom pom trim, as we all know. :)

I hope you have fun stitching up this month’s projects! And if you aren’t a subscriber, we’re planning on adding more to our box next year!

I love this! How do I join and is it too late to get the July box?
Where do we sign up for the Needle Minder?
I am so happy I signed up in time to get this box! I have my cross stitch done and am glad you put out this information. I will definitely order the display piece to finish my stitchings. Love the needle minder.
Where do I sign up for the club or is it to late?
There are still a couple of shops that have openings – send me an email and I’ll send you the phone number of the shop. Thanks!
Where do I sign up for the club? I was on the wait list at Fat Quarter Shop, but now I can’t find it on their website. Thanks!
Is it too late to sign up for this Club? I just found out about it!! and Fell in love with it! I was a sewing retreat this past midweek and one of the gals was doing the Rooftop Cross stitch along with the matching quilt. She had just finished off doing a sailing quilting featuring the sailboat and I was sold!!
What a cute summery pattern! I like the idea of using one display and swapping out the design each month! I like how you displayed the sailboat needle minder at the corner of the stand! Love the pom pom trim on the embroidery hoop; it kind of reminds me of the circles on a port hole cover which fits the theme!
Please send sign up info for the needleminder of the month club. I live in Salem, Oregon.
