For me, fall and winter are all about being cozy. I don’t know if it’s because I’m always cold, or just because I love the feel of cuddling up under a throw with a cup of tea and a book, or maybe just a combo of the two. But when I think of decorating for fall, I think big, squishy pillows, soft throws and pretty fabrics.
I use a lot of vintage linens with new things. I think the mix of old and new is so fun, and it keeps the house from feeling like something Dolores Umbridge would feel at home in.
I did some shopping at Target a few weeks ago and found some great pieces to mix in with my regular decor. The fabulous thing is, they are so stylish that I can use them for fall, Thanksgiving, and Christmas with just a few alterations!
This copper tray is so gorgeous, and it’s perfect for the base for a holiday display. I filled mine with a whole assortment of things: pumpkins, candles, and hydrangeas. I love the contrast of the copper products against the turquoise table. I found some metal baskets with copper handles to put under the table to hold my throws – although I am usually under them so I’m not sure how often they’ll make it into the baskets. At least I have the option of being tidy, right? :)
These pillows are so fun too! It’s hard to tell in the photo, but the white pillows are super soft and there are little gold threads running through them. So they look great with my fall decor, but they’ll be perfect for Christmas too, with that sparkle in them! They really complement the houndstooth and fox pillows too, and those will look cute all through November.
I had to add in some vintage, of course! I have had these antique turquoise windows for a couple years, and I’m so happy I found the perfect place for them over my sofa. I added in vintage linens and fabrics behind them for extra color. Now I’m thinking they need a garland or something to tie them together. What do you think?
I found some sweet little sea urchin spikey things for the end tables (they are supposed to go on the wall, but I like them better here). I love that they tie in with the dark details on the table.
I couldn’t forget my turquoise chair next to the fireplace either. I have been wanting some deer wall art for quite a while, and when I saw this handsome guy I might have gasped!
He looks so cute hanging with the wool felt ball garland, and at Christmas I’m going to add a wreath around his neck. LOVE!
I have a tutorial coming soon for that blanket ladder too!
I’m really happy with how it’s coming together. It’s definitely a place where you can sit down, be comfy, and chat or watch a movie.
What is your holiday/seasonal decorating style? I’d love to hear how you change things up in your home!

I love the Dolores Umbridge reference! Is the fox pillow one you made or was it purchased like that?

i love the vintage linens behind the window glass!❤️ so clever. It would probably make them read as one piece if you add a banner and your banners are always so stinkin’ cute

Your home certainly does look so cozy and I love your beautiful coffee table. I don’t think I have a decorating style for the colder months just yet as I’ve recently relocated countries but I love lots of throws and cushions throughout the house in baskets or on decorative ladders to grab quickly when I feel cold :) I found your post through The Creative Corner Link Up Party. I’m a new host at the party. Can’t wait to see what you link up this week. :)

I am so envious of your beautiful room, all the comfy looking pillows, everything. Love that two step table next to sofa. I got one of those but have yet to do anything with it,might have to get it out to get busy, make it cottagey looking. I like to switch out tables, pillows, whatever bugs me for being in room too long. The idea of putting vintage linens behind a window to hang is fantastic, looks so cottagey also. Hope not getting your style wrong.
I have lots of vintage doilies and table runners, such a great way to show them and yet keep them clean. You have inspired me in so many ways seeing your wonderful warm living room. Will be busy digging out things to change up. Hope all well for you and yours. Happy weekend
Have fox pillow gotten at Target, has close up of fox on it, what a gorgeous animal. Found it in clearance. I could go crazy at Target, so much awesome house stuff.
