Week 3 of the Riley Blake Designs Block Challenge is here, and this week’s block is the beautiful Starry Bloom designed by Cherry Guidry — a block that feels equal parts classic and fresh.

I was immediately drawn to the star shape paired with the soft, floral-inspired details. It has such a lovely rhythm to it, and I think it’s one of those blocks that really shines once you start playing with color. The design feels structured and traditional at first glance, but the petal-like elements give it a sweet, unexpected softness.

For my version, I leaned into warm peachy tones, which felt like a perfect fit for this block. I used Blossom Peaches ’n Cream, Sparkler Apricot, Dapple Dot Canyon Rose, and Marsala, and I absolutely love how those shades work together.

One of my favorite things about this year’s challenge is seeing how the same block can look completely different depending on fabric and color choices. Starry Bloom would be gorgeous in bold primaries, soft pastels, or even a scrappy mix — but this peach palette gives it a warm, vintage-inspired feel that I’m loving so much.
