I LOVE Halloween – after Christmas it is my favorite Holiday to decorate for!
I love making sure there are touches of Halloween in every room – which means finding quick and cute projects to decorate with.
That’s what I’m sharing today – These go together really fast and you can change them up super easily for any colors or decor!
Aren’t they cute?
They have little glitter skeleton heads to top them off – because you just can’t have enough glitter in a display – especially at Halloween.
Ok – here’s what you’ll need to make your own!
- Styrofoam Cones
- Yarn in two colors
- Ribbon for top
- Skeleton or something else cute to top with
- Hot glue
- Ruler & Marking Pen
Start by marking out your strips on your cones. This will help your rows to stay straight as you wrap. The first one is a 12″ cone and I marked it at every inch, three places around the cone.
Begin wrapping at the bottom of the code, adding little bits of hot glue every so often to hold the yarn in place.
Continue wrapping and glueing your yarn – this is so easy it hardly needs a tutorial. :) And it’s perfect for setting up on a little tray and doing while you watch tv.
When you get to the top, wrap the yarn around the top flat portion of the cone to cover everything.
Now – you’ll notice I have some glue that’s showing through the black a bit.
Just color over the glue with a Sharpie that’s close to the color of the yarn! That will make the glue not so noticeable.
Repeat the process for as many cones as you’d like to make! On the smaller one I changed up the stripes a little.
I think they have a kind of Beetlejuice thing going for them –
To finish them off with a little bling, I tied some bows in Damask Ribbon and pinned them to the top of the cones.
Then I glued some little glittered skulls I’d made a few years ago to the top of the ribbon.
The pins make it super easy to change out the toppers next year – if I want to go with hot pink or orange or something!
I’ve grouped them together with my little Target Dollar Bin finds – both the Pumpkin and the Boo came from there!
I hope you like them! They’d be perfect to throw together in an afternoon to dress up a little corner that needs some Halloween Spirit!
