I am so excited about this huge transformation we’ve been working on! I’ve been dying to show you as part of Quick•Step’s RoomUP Blogger Challenge! We just finished a big redo, transforming a dark kitchen to a retro farmhouse kitchen!
Since we moved into our house about a year ago, we’ve had the kitchen on our list of projects to redo. It was a dark green color with very dark flooring, which combined to leave the kitchen feeling smallish and kind of gloomy. We were pretty happy with the layout though, so we knew it just needed to be lightened and made more our style.
I’m going to be sharing all the changes with you over the next few weeks – but for today you can check out the first reveal of the room on the Quick•Step Style Blog!
One of the biggest parts of the transformation is our new flooring! We went with the Envique Gable Oak planks from Quick Step and they have such a pretty rustic look – they were perfect for the farmhouse style we wanted.
This is just part one of the transformation – I’ll be sharing how we painted the cabinets and new lighting soon!
Quick Step is having a fabulous giveaway – you can enter to win up to 500 sq ft of flooring! We redid our kitchen, laundry room and hall bath with 400 sq feet so imagine what you could transform with 500! Enter here to win!

Love those bar stools! Nothing like a cheery print in red to cheer one up! Good thinking, Bev.
Wow, I can see the difference in the brightness of the room already! Can’t wait to see the rest,
My house was built in the 70’s. The kitchen has always been dark. We painted our cabinets white and installed a sky light as well. It still is dark enough most days to require turning on a light to work in there during the day. That light flooring would probably really lighten the room up further. I would love to win that product.
I agree with Barb those bar stools are to die for. I can’t wait to see the finished kitchen.
I love seeing how people with an eye can transfprm things! Your ideas are so spot on! I live in a farm home that’s over 110yrs old too. My living room is currently that same shade of green and has been since I married and moved in over 37 yrs ago! I love the character of older homes, but sometimes the warmth factor is lacking. I hope I win some of that flooring! My floors upstairs are circa 40’s and I’m ready for an easy care update!
