It’s the last Thursday of the month – and you know what that means! Ok maybe you don’t. I’ll tell you either way.
It’s time for our Sew Our Stash update!
Last summer Marissa from Rae Gun Ramblings and I made a pact to sew more for ourselves! We also wanted to work through our stash too! So every month we both share what we’ve sewn for the month – and we hope you are playing along too! We’d love to see links in the comments of apparel you’ve sewn this month, or share your projects on Instagram with the hashtag #sewourstash!
So this month I had a head cold and left all my sewing until the last minute. And by last minute, I mean I started yesterday at 3:00. I am slightly insane. But all worked out in the end because I was able to sew up a Penelope Peplum Top in 3 hours. Including cutting out! Goodness I love this pattern.
Isn’t this fabric just darling? I picked it up at Hobby Lobby quite a while ago – and unfortunately I didn’t have enough to make a dress – but it looks so sweet as this cute peplum top. I am going to try and hunt up some more though. I really need a dress out of the fabric.
Despite my last minute sewing, I was pretty excited to see how well the side seams matched up. I might have squealed.
It is so comfortable too! And those half sleeves make me super happy. Sigh.
Sorry about the dress form photos. With this head cold, I’m not exactly feeling like being in front of the camera. There’s a whole Rudolph thing going on here that no one wants to see.
I had about a half a yard of the fabric left over and I couldn’t bear not to use it up – so I whipped up this knit and lace infinity scarf too. I just sewed a strip of lace about 20″ to the end of the fabric, to make it long enough, then just sewed the fabric into a tube. Easy peasy!
And since we’re on the subject of scarves – if you were around the blog yesterday and saw my tutorial for Mini Tassels, you’ll remember the sneak peek I shared of the project I used them on. Today over at Lil’ Luna you can see the scarf I made – I had so much fun putting this one together!!
It’s a really pretty patchwork of several chiffon fabrics, all finished off with the super cute mini tassels!
Since I’m already sharing things to wear – I have a fabulous new Earring tutorial for you too! Over at the New York Institute of Art & Design you can see the full tutorial for my knockoff version of Jennifer Lawrence’s gorgeous earrings she wore at the Golden Globes!
These earrings go together really easily and they are perfect for every day – or for special occasions! Click here to see the tutorial.
So now I have a new top, two new scarves and new earrings!! I just need to figure out how to sew up some new jeans. Those seriously scare me.
Make sure you head over to Rae Gun Ramblings and visit Marissa to see what she posted this month!
Oh, wow! I love all your projects! -Marci @ Stone Cottage Adventures
I love this top! The fabric is so cute, and you did a fabulous job! I’m wishing I had a serger so I could sew knits without all the swearing. ;)
Bev, your top turned out so cute! I love that pattern too. The fabric is adorable with the cute little scallops. I may need to dig into my knit stash!
I love it all! Tassels on the scarf is brilliant and that fabric is such a score it suits the penelope perfectly.
Bev – Love that top. It really turned out cute~~
