I’m trying to up my quilt game this year! I love them, but I can definitely use the practice on piecing. I can tell the more I do, the more those corners actually meet up. Well, some of the time now anyway. ;)
So I was super excited to find out about my friend Amy from Diary of a Quilter’s new Craftsy class, Precut Quilt Tops in Less Time!
I love this class! I love sewing quilts, but they are even more fun with pre-cuts. If you aren’t familiar with pre-cuts, they are strips or squares of fabric from a line that are all packaged up and ready for using. It really speeds up the cutting time! Plus you can easily get a lot of different prints all in one set.
Amy’s put together several quilts using pre-cuts and she has different options for each quilt. They are all so cute!
She breaks down each style, and shows exactly how to cut the precuts, then sew the blocks. It’s all in video form too so there isn’t any guessing – it’s so easy to follow along with!
I have watched all the videos and I’ve decided to make this quilt – I love the criss-cross blocks!
I’m using a mix of white and this Regent Street Lawn from Moda. I haven’t used Lawn in a quilt before but it is so soft. I can’t wait to start sewing. I’m using the big white floral for the back and the small aqua print for the binding. Cute right??
If you’ve been wanting to start quilting this is a great class to start with because Amy really makes it easy for you to get started. If you’ve been quilting for a while, you’ll still love following along with her cute designs and time saving tips!
There is a great deal on the class right now! If you click this link you can get the class for 50% off!

I am fairly new to quilting, having just started about 2 years ago. I would sit and watch my mother sew, never taking the time to pay attention to her wisdom. Sadly, we lost her 4 years ago to cancer. Trying to find my way out of the grief took awhile, and the next thing I knew, I was pining quilts on pinterest. After a couple years of that, I came across youtube tutorials, and the rest is history. :D
I have been quilting for nearly 45 years, sewing a lot longer than that. My first, quilts were made using a pencil and ruler to mark the cutting lines, cutting by scissors. Love all kinds of piecing, use precuts often. I have Amy’s book and follow, both of you on IG.
