I have such a fun project to share with you!
A few weeks ago I was contacted by Pellon (maker of interfacings/Wonder Under/battings, etc) and asked if I would like to be one of their Project Designers!
I was excited to be able to try out some new products – and make something fun!
Want to see what I made?
(I hope so. Since that’s the point of this whole post. ;)
A Picnic Bag and Quilt!! Which you probably figured out by the title of the post. ha.
I’m pretty much in love. And I want to sit by the lake and drink something out of a bottle and eat grapes. Oh wait. I did that.
The picnic blanket is made with this yummy yellow scrolly fabric – and backed with gray houndstooth. Cuteness.
(All fabrics came from Joann’s if you were curious)
The four corners say, “Nosh”, “Snack”, “Eat”, and “Munch”.
I added ruffles – cause on my Ruffle Vs. Ric Rac poll on Facebook – ruffles won. And I think they look mighty sweet.
The blanket folds up and slips in the back pocket of the bag – so on the way to your picnic you can carry your bag with one hand and hold your sweetie’s hand with the other.
The bag is fully lined and insulated with Pellon’s magical Insul-Fleece – so it will keep your food cool or warm.
It also has an insulated inside pocket that may or may not hold a wine bottle. Or a large salami.
Isn’t it fun? I think it would be such a sweet gift too!
So here’s my great news!!
I am, along with Pellon, offering the pattern for the Bag and Quilt – for F.R.E.E!!
How awesome is that?
You just need to pop over to Pellon and download it from there! Here’s the link.
They have you register before you can download – but it is free to register and they don’t sent you any emails. Easy peasy.
And once you register – you can download any of the other projects they have on their site.
They consider the pattern to be “Advanced”. But don’t let that make you nervous. The instructions are written just like all my regular tutorials – and the pattern is easy to redraw if you pick up some Tru-Grid.
So what do you think?? I’d love to know.
Do you go on picnics? Or have you been waiting for a cute bag and blanket and now you’ll go all the time?? ;)
I’m linking to Sunday Scoop, Today’s Creative Blog, Met Monday, Skip to my Lou, Tutorials & Tips Tuesday, and the other fabulous parties on the sidebar – make sure you check them out!
My little discloser statement: Pellon provided me with their products and the idea for a bag/blanket set – the pattern design, style, fabric choices and sewing were all done by me. :)
Absolutely adorable. I love picnics … and they’d be even better with that adorable set. You did an awesome job.
I’m in LOVE! Headed over to download the pattern asap.
yay! I just today finished my pellon project! whew, long project! I am sending it to them tomorrow! So glad to be pellon artists together haha!
your bag is amazing!

I see many a handmade Christmas gift with this! Great idea! Love your embellished munch nosh place mats!
I love this!!! I loooooove the colors you chose. What a great project!
I think it’s GORGEOUS! I love the fabric you chose. I love the ruffles (how did i miss that poll on fb?? i would have voted ruffles anyway ;) I would go on a picnic EVERYDAY with this set. When the weather is nice my daughter and i take the bike to the park (her in the bike trailer). This would be so perfect to take along with us :)
I love the grey houndstooth, it’s just made me realise that’s what I’m looking for for a project I’m doing. Gorgeous with the yellow!
Thanks for the link – I might get around to making one for next summer.
Wow! That is awesome!! (In my best Jack Black singing voice! Ha!) I just love the fabrics that you chose. I love putting different patterns together – I’m just not so good at it yet! I will definitely go sign up and check out the free patterns. Thanks so much for sharing.
Oh my goodness! Did you totally flip out when the folks from Pellon contacted you?!!! What a fun project :)
How cute is this Bev?! What a fun idea and I just love how it turned out.
I love it and what a great gift idea for a birthday!
Oh my, Bev! This is SOO fun! I love the colors and the patterns together. And the ruffles!! Wowza! This is super adorable!
super duper cute! did you use your machine to quilt the blanket?? i don’t know if mine can do that. i love it and would love to try this out for a gift for my brother and his soon to be wife :)
I think this is just adorable. I will say that when I first saw the picture and before reading on, I thought that the nosh, snack, etc. places were actually names. That would be great for families with little ones to have thier names on the blanket and their own space to eat their picnic food!
I love your blog! I have your linky on my blog. New follower here. I hope you follow me back. Thanks!
So pretty and practical!
So pretty! Would LOVE it if you would link this up at my turquoise lovin’ party going on right now! http://www.sweetlittlegals.com/2011/10/turquoise-lovin-7.html
Bev, your attention to detail and eye for design make this one of the most beautiful picnic packs I’ve ever seen!
Thank you for sharing it on “A Little Birdie Told Me…”! I’m featuring your post and a link to the pattern on my Facebook page today.
