I am so excited to show off my Thanksgiving table to you today!
I usually keep our Thanksgiving table décor pretty simple – since I’m cooking and the table will be full of yumminess, I like to keep things from getting too crowded on the table.
This year I have a fun new decoration for the table – it is these Personalized Family Thankfulness Napkins!
Last week we all took a few minutes and wrote down five things about the others in the family that we are thankful for. I combined them all and printed them out, and used them as a pattern for these personalized napkins!
I kept all the descriptions a secret so on Thanksgiving, each one of us will have a personalized napkin covered in this pretty script, describing all the ways the other members of the family are thankful for us.
These are super easy to do too! Here’s what you’ll need to do your own.
Materials:
- Thin light fabric (makes it easier for tracing) – I used muslin – you’ll need 1 yard
- fabric paint pens
- marking pen
(All my supplies came from Jo-Ann Fabrics)
Begin by cutting your fabric into 18″ squares.
Combine the phrases your family has come up with and print them out. I printed mine out in a tile format and taped them together.
(My printer left a little out of some of the words but it wasn’t a problem with tracing.)
Tape your paper down and then tape one of your napkin pieces over the printed paper.
Once you’re all taped down, start tracing the letters. I decided to use a fabric marking pen first, but if your letters are clear enough you can just start tracing away with the fabric marker.
Once you have all your words traced, hem the sides of the napkin by turning the ends under twice and sewing.
Now you can work on the others! They are actually pretty fast to make.
The script on these looks a little light, but it’s really a nice gold color.
For the table, I placed the napkins on each plate, then added a little plate with a mini-pumpkin, decorated with some pretty beaded velvet ribbon.
I have a pretty vintage fabric runner for the center of the table, and I finished it off with this birdcage flower arrangement, all in fun Thanksgiving colored flowers.
It’s so bright and cheerful, but in pretty Fall colors. And it’s easy to do too!
I can’t wait until Thanksgiving to see how much fun everyone has reading their napkins. I thought it was really fun – in going through and compiling all the words, there weren’t any duplicates for each person. Pretty awesome right?
Also – I feel so blessed by what everyone said – I know these are going to be fun mementos of this year’s Thanksgiving!
