Well we’re starting off 2011 with an odd title aren’t we??
I hope you’ve all had a wonderful Christmas and New Years! We had such a great time visiting with family and friends and playing with the kids and just relaxing. But I feel like I haven’t posted in forever and I’ve missed it – and you!!
I want to share some things with you that I made for Christmas this year. It was a flurry of last minute gift making – as usual – but I really enjoyed it and I can’t wait to show you everything.
We’ll start off with the gifts for my little nieces. They are almost 4 and almost 2 and they love to match each other. So my sister and I came up with the idea to make them matching outfits aaannnndd matching toys. Can you get much cuter?? ;)
Here is the oldest’s set:
The set was based on Oopsie the Octopus – made from the darling Melly and Me pattern that is available For Free at the Moda Bake Shop website. (Which I love by the way)
The pattern calls for yo-yo’s on all the feet and a few on the head of the Octopus for decoration.
Because I hate yo-yo’s with a fierce and unreasonable passion, I made some rosettes out of coordinating fabric.
Still so cute yet not rage-inducing like those nasty yo-yo’s.
For the outfits I recreated the Oopsie as an applique from the same fabric for the shirt – and added a rosette to that too.
The edges are raw so they’ll fray and curl just a bit when the outfit is washed. I love that.
The pants and top have little heart appliques to tie everything together. I finished the set by making a little rosette headband out of the matching fabric.
For her younger sister, I did a matching outfit but in different colors – so there are no messy, “That’s My Oopsie” issues.
(Not that my nieces would ever argue – but still. ;)
The lavender and orange looks so great!! Not two colors I’d ordinarily put together – but I love how it came out.
Because she’s not quite two years old, her hair is a shorter and finer, so instead of a headband she received two matching little hair clip rosettes.
I don’t have pictures of the girls with their outfits – they had to be shipped to AZ. But they were a big hit! Christmas success. ;) Yay!
I have two more “Gift Posts” for you this week – I’d love it if you would check back in. :) I’m also working industriously on a blog makeover that I can’t wait to show you.
This year is going to be a blast!! Thanks for visiting and following along. :)
those are super sweet! Great job!
These are SOOOOO cute! I love that the little toys match.
Cute gift ideas!
A-DOR-A-BLE!!!!
I love these sets! Super cute! I made a monster shirt for my nephew….now I’m really wishing I had thought of doing a little stuffed monster to go with it. Ahhh, there’s always next year
OH MY GOSH, Bev, these are adorable!!! You absolutely blow my mind sometimes! I’m so sure the girls LOVED them… heck, I’d cuddle with one of those octopuses! :]

Bev, Happy New Year. You’re really starting out the New Year with a spectacular BANG! WOWZA!!!! Those gift sets are positively the most original, most exquisitely detailed, charming, whimsical, and stylishly done children’s ensembles EVER! One question, do they come in my size? :-)

Wow those are GREAT!! Think I’m going to have to give this one a try myself… at least the stuffed octopus! :)
very very pretty! What lucky little girls those are, well done!
So, so cute.
Those are adorable gift sets! Who knew octopus could be so cute! Love how their plushies match the ones on their shirts.
SO cute!!!
this is absolutely adorable!! Come link up @ handmade tuesdays @ ladybug blessings if you have a chance! http://www.ladybug-blessings.com
Oh my . . . you are a super gift-making machine!
Awesome and adorable. Being half of a sister duo, I like the pink and purple combination so that you’re the same but different! Also, because as the little one you get the hand me downs, so it’s fun to get a new color of clothes instead of a bigger size of what you already had :P
Your octopus doll and outfit is so adorable! I would love it if you would come and link up to my new link party,
Masterpiece Monday, at my blog, Boogieboard Cottage. The link is already up, I hope you can join the party!
Happy New Year!
Mary
