If you’ve been dying to learn embroidery I have some really fun kits to share with you today!
Bucilla is a maker of embroidery, stitchery and cross stitch kits and they are celebrating their 150 year anniversary this year! How amazing is that – to have the heritage of providing stitchery kits for 150 years for people to make and give as gifts and stitch up to make their homes prettier? They are helping to bring embroidery to a whole new generation with new kits that are stylish and fun!
Bucilla has developed three new Learn to Stitch kits for their anniversary and they are perfect to learn with, or to stitch up quickly if you are an experienced stitcher!
The little kits include a Bird Embroidery, a little butterfly and flower cross stitch and a sweet felt Santa!
They are great for learning new stitches – there are some videos on the Bucilla Anniversary page that walk you through how to create each kit. While you’re there, you can check out the great free patterns they are offering, as well as links to the kits they make! There is sooo much inspiration there.
I made up the Bird Hoop and I love how it turned out. It was fun to play with so many different stitches in a little hoop!
Each kit comes with instructions and the bird hoop comes with printed fabric, floss and a needle. In the instructions it tells you how to do each stitch, where to stitch and what color to use.
This kit will fit in a 3″ or 4″ hoop, or you could use a small frame to show it off. It would be cute stitched into a pillow too! I chose a 4″ hoop for mine. I also stitched my hoop with 3 strands of floss instead of two, so the color would be a bit bolder. You can definitely still use 2 though, the design on the packaging shows how cute it looks that way.
I also glued a little pom pom trim around the edge. I’m hanging mine from a bit of vintage ribbon – I think I’m going to hang it in the window of my sewing room!
****Giveaway Now Closed.****
I am partnering to do a giveaway along with Bucilla too! We are giving one of each of the new Learn to Stitch kits! Just leave a comment in the section below letting me know what kit you’d like to have if you win. I’ll choose a winner next week and get your kit out to you – it would be a fun summer day project!
Don’t forget to check out Bucilla for new kits and for sweet free download patterns. (I’m pretty partial to the flamingo myself!)
You can also check out an adorable version of the Cross Stitch Kit from Amy at Positively Splendid!
I have a Santa themed Christmas tree, the Santa would make a cute addition, and looks fun to do!
Love ❤️ to have a go at the Robin. I have a nice space for it to hang once completed. Thanks in advance.

I’ve been wanting to try cross stitch for a few years but around my 40th birthday I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis so hand pain has scuppered that plan My medications are starting to kick in now so I’m raring to go! I would really love the butterfly & flower kit as butterflies are a symbol of love for my husband and I – I had so many butterflies in my tummy when we were first dating so they bring very happy memories to me and cheer me up when I’m feeling down. I’d like to create a whole collection of crafted butterfly items
I love them all but I would love the bird embroidery. I want to teach my granddaughter embroidery and I think this would be the perfect start for her.
The Santa felt kit would be a wonderful project to do with my soon-to-be 13 year old granddaughter.
The timeliness of this craft would be perfect so as to not be rushing during the busy Christmas season!
God bless
Love the Santa Felt Kit – Christmas is all the time here – we have our tree up all year because we
just really like it – so that would be a wonderful addition to the ornaments…
