I am so loving getting into sewing for myself more! It is so fun to make up something and not have paid a fortune for it!
I especially love it when what I’ve made is fast and easy. That was definitely the case with my new favorite dress!
I was so excited when Andrea from The Train to Crazy and Go To Patterns asked me to be a part of her pattern tour.
I quickly signed up for the Casual Lady dress – I just love the ease and simplicity of this pattern! It’s a simple knit sheath dress – sleeveless, easy to sew and so versatile!
I made mine up in this lightweight burgundy sweater knit that is so crazy soft. I think it will be perfect for fall and winter – I can pair it with tights and boots, or even leggings and flats on nice days.
I followed the pattern exactly – the facing was very easy to sew and I love that the armholes are just turned under and hemmed. I wanted the dress to hit just above my knee – so I put in a wide 1 1/2″ hem. I love the way the bigger hem looks – so fun.
I can pair it with any belt and sweater too – and it makes a super comfortable outfit that looks nice! I love it.
It really was so fast too – I think start to finish (including piecing the pattern and cutting out) the whole dress only took me about 2 hours. Hello awesomeness.
The Casual Lady pattern includes the dress version and a top version as well. These are so great for summer, or winter with a cute sweater!
I’ve made the top before as well – with a few adjustments. I used the basics of it to create this Anthro Knockoff top. Super easy and fun to do!
Go To Patterns is having a fab sale right now too, if you’re sewing along with Kids Clothes Week! This sale is through Oct. 26 so hurry over so you can take advantage of the deals!
I am a Go To Patterns affiliate – but I really love all the patterns she carries! There are always great deals and so many fabulous designs there!
The Casual Lady is a great starter pattern if you’ve never worked with knits before – or even if you are just starting out with apparel sewing! The pattern is super easy to understand and fast to sew – and when you’re done you have one of those dresses that you end up wearing every week. Win win!
Linking up at Met Monday, Tutorials & Tips Tuesday, Shabby Creek Cottage, 504 Main, The 36th Avenue Party, Block Party, and the other fabulous parties on the party page. Make sure you check them out!
Love the fabric color! I ALMOST wore something to this weekend’s SoCal Social, but then I realized that everything I sew is a little fancy-pants. I need more everyday casual dresses like this!
Cute Bev! I love the color and it looks great on you!
