I love stitching bicycles! I don’t actually love riding bicycles – I know my limits and wheeling myself somewhere on two skinny tires is a bad idea. But I can’t resist the cuteness of them! So I’ll stick to just embroidering them – like this mini bicycle embroidery hoop necklace!
I think this necklace is just perfect for summer! It’s hard to tell the size here – but this little hoop is only 2″ wide. So this really is a tiny little bike!
I had to add a little pennant too – because everything is cuter with a pennant right?
This necklace is great for a beginner or a more experienced stitcher – the design uses a Back Stitch and French Knots. Nice and simple! Here’s what you’ll need to make your own:
Materials:
- Small amount of fabric
- Small wood embroidery hoop
- DMC Floss: Colors – 725, 898, 912, 3075, 3808
- Mini Hoop (1 x (62mm x 34mm) hoop frame set)
- Glue
- Necklace chain and closure
- Disappearing Marking Pen
- Mini Bicycle Embroidery Hoop Pattern
Begin by tracing the pattern onto your fabric with the disappearing marking pen. My design is a bit messy – I drew out the pattern a couple of times before I was happy with the design. This is when it’s a good thing to have disappearing ink in your marking pen. :)
Place your fabric in a regular hoop and stitch your design. Everything on the pattern is done with a back stitch except for the mini flowers in the basket and along the back of the bike. Those are French Knots.
Follow the instructions on the hoop kit for putting the design in the hoop. It’s super easy!
Add your chain through the loop at the top of the mini hoop and you’re all set to show off your new necklace!
These mini necklaces are so fun to make! Every time I make one I wonder why it’s been so long since I’ve stitched one up. I’ll just have to make up another soon!
What design should I do next do you think?

I LOVE this! Such a cute project to give to my daughters! Do you have the mm size of the gold hoop you used? (The link is for a 4-pack of different sizes.). Thanks for sharing your amazing creativity & talent!

Gotta’ love This design and versatility Bev, so doggoned cute. Perfect for summer, wonder if our youngest Grand daughter would wear one. Never know what teenage girls will like. This would be great project for girl scouts to make for gifts and themselves.
Where did you find such a tiny hoop? So cute, didn’t know such little ones were made.
Wishing you very happy Mother’s Day

I LOVE it! I’ve had some Dandelyne hoops just waiting to be used. How many strands of thread did you use?
