This Lavender Floral Needlepoint Sachet is so fun to make and it’s a great beginner project if you’ve never done needlepoint before. It would so perfect for a gift for anyone!
You can mix up the colors of the threads and fabrics to coordinate with whatever Mom likes. It has a sweet touch of lavender but you change that up as well!
Materials for this fun Lavender Floral Needlepoint Sachet:
- DMC Pearl Cotton – Ecru, 368, 783, 961, 4045, 4110, 4170, 4200
- 1/4 yard of fabric – Buttercream Poppy Cotton Fabric
- Tapestry Needle
- Fiberfill
- Needlepoint Canvas
- 8″ Ribbon Piece
- Dried Lavender (or other fragrance of your choice)
- Rose Needlepoint Pattern
Using the pattern as a guide, stitch the rose first with a Tent Stitch. This is like a cross stitch, but only one half of the stitch. Each stitch is done on the same diagonal. For all the stitching, use doubled pearl cotton.
Once the rose is stitched, stitch the leaves in the same way.
Once your rose is stitched, fill in the area around the flower with a long satin stitch that covers four squares of the needlepoint canvas. Make the canvas a 4″ x 4 1/2″ square of filled stitches.
Cut two strips of fabric 1″ x 5″. Sew the strips to each side of the needlepoint with a 1/4″ seam allowance. Trim the canvas to the seam. Cut two strips of fabric 1″ x 6″ and sew the strips to the top and bottom of the canvas. Trim the remaining needlepoint canvas along the top and bottom as well.
Cut a piece of fabric the size of your front piece. Fold the length of ribbon so the ends meet and place it centered along the top edge of the front piece. Place the back right sides together with the front and sew around the sides, leaving an opening at the bottom of about 3″.
Fill the sachet with fiberfill and dried lavender and hand sew the opening closed.
Now you have a cute little sachet! With the ribbon it would be perfect to freshen up a closet or small room – and it would be so fun as a gift too!

Why is it called Lavender Floral? Is that the stitch?
Hi Pamela,
I added dried lavender in with the fiberfill when I was stuffing it so it could be used as a scented sachet. :)
What a cute little sachet! This would be good to put under your pillow with the lavender. I’ve tried needlepoint when I was younger but I didn’t have the patients for it then. Maybe one day I’ll try it again, in fact I probably have the one I started years ago somewhere.
So lovely indeed! Such a Delicate needlepoint sachet featuring a red & pink rose with 3 green leaves. Filled with lavender, sachet is ideal to place with undergarments in your chest of drawers! Perfect job. Thanks for sharing. Sarah Helene in Minneapolis
Thank you so much. These are the special little somethings that when given as gifts are such a pick-me-up!!! Also, essential oils could be added to the filler . . . a very pretty way for a little aroma therapy!! Delightful! As usual another wonderfully creative project!!! =)
Lovely !!!!!!!!!!!!!

So pretty, I’ve not done any needle point for years. What a lovely project to get back into it again.
