It’s time to show off my Halloween Mantel!!
We don’t do the gore of Halloween – but I like the creepy/spooky thing. ;) This year I’m aiming for a Gothic feel – maybe Tower of Terror inspired?? ;)
I really like how it came together – I hope you do too!!!
We seem to have developed a roach problem.
I think the Beware Pennant really ties in the feel of mantel – the bows look so great with the other decorations!
Let’s check out some closeups!!
I have my Skeleton Cameo Wreath as the center of my mirror, and I have added some lace and moss as the base to all the decorations on the mantel. I have some old milk glass pieces – they fit great with that Vintage feel I was going for.
For the Hurricane of the lamp – my dad had the great idea to make it all smokey and grimey inside. I love the look of it!
I found some super cool pictures at Michaels on sale – they’re the holograms so they look normal or spooky, depending on which way you look at them.
The black candlesticks I found at garage sales last year – I just hosed them all down with Krylon glossy black.
I had seen this shot with all the spiders on pinterest – and I found a package of roaches at Walmart that I thought would give a similar look!!
I have some cheapy dollar store pumpkins that I spray painted silver last year – and a spooky flocked spider has taken up residence with them.
And a dead roach I think.
I have some books on each side covered in Halloween scrapbook paper. That’s the extent of my paper crafting. Fold. Tape. Done. :)
In the corner I have some glittered skulls in a jar with some black netting.
Darn those roaches.
The flowers were white roses that I picked up at the dollar store -I spray painted them black when I painted the candlesticks.
I love how it looks with the candles lit too –
Sooo – what do you think??
You know I make NO claims to being a decorator – so I’d love to hear how you think it turned out!
I’m linking to Sunday Scoop, Today’s Creative Blog, Met Monday, Skip to my Lou, Tutorials & Tips Tuesday, and the other fabulous parties on the sidebar – make sure you check them out!
I’m also linking this up to Beth’s Halloween Mantel Party and The CSI Project! Lots of inspiration there!!

I love it! It’s a wonderful grown-up way to decorate for Halloween. And I must admit, the roaches are probably my favorite part. :) I’ve pinned one of your photos for future decorating! http://pinterest.com/iftoyscouldtalk/halloween/

How cool! I love all the little touches, smokey glass AND so wishing I had kept my grandmas white lantern now! I wish you had shown the beware banner a little closer and if I am being totally honest,” the bows are distracting to me, so dark and that is where my eye went first, but there is way more cooler things to look at! ” :) she said with respect and love of your craftin in her heart! :)
Beverly says
Thanks for the feedback Laura. :) I posted about my pennant banner here: http://www.flamingotoes.com/2011/10/gothic-halloween-pennant-banner/ – you can see some closeups in that post.

This is all amazing. Your mantle is gorgeously spooky!! I love those pictures from Michaels. Had them on my wish list but the budget is too tight. Maybe I’ll be able to get them on clearance. That would be fun.

This is great! I really love the smokey glass and of course the wreath. BUT, the roaches are creeping me out! I live in South GA, where those things are rampant and we call ’em Palmetto bugs! They are horrid little creatures that will fly at you if you happen upon them at night! Ick!
Jennifer says
Super creepy Bev! UGH, the roaches are making me itch. Hehehe

Hope to see you on my blog:)

Well done! Your mantle makes me smile with all the special details and extras. I’m loving the contrast of black and white this year, too, tho I don’t have a great fireplace to decorate. I’m making do! So what do you have planned for Christmas? Would a black and white Christmas be too plain? Hmmm.
Vivienne @ The V Spot says
I love it! I want you to know I clicked on the thumbnail at Rook 17 because it caught my eye… I did not know this was you until I got here. In other words, it looks FAB! Love, love, love that dead roaches. Gah!

This is fabulous! I wish I had room indoors to do something like your display. Tried outside and had to chase half of it down before it hit the next county! Maybe next year. It’ll give me time to think up something for somewhere!
Kathy says
I love it, yes I would say you have hit on Gothic. I went with Black and White more then before and have enjoyed it. Your mantel looks wonderfully creepy. Drop by my site for more halloween. Kathy

Ashley G says
I’m getting ready to start collecting things for my Halloween mantel this year and I love yours! Thanks for the inspiration!
Amanda says
I think your mantel is amazing!!! Great detail. I REALLY love the wreath. Great Job!!!!!
Michele N says
Okay, so I know this was from 2 years ago, but omg I love it. Lil Luna had linked to your spooky gothic wreath which I love, but I love how it all came together. My mantel is seen but always has Nascar diecast on it but the fireplace under it is blocked by a couch, so I don’t get the chance to decorate it, if I could I would definitely do something like this.
Cindy Casique says
Fantastic job on this mantel too. I like how creative you are. I love vintage & Gothic type stuff. Once again thanks so much for sharing.
